Bundled discounts in Dutchie POS

Learn how to create and customize bundled discounts in Dutchie POS.

Bundled discounts are a highly customizable way to create promotions such as buy one get one or discounts based on a combination of products or categories. Bundled discounts can be applied automatically or by code and offer an expanded set of features in addition to all the same settings and configurations as standard discounts.

Things to consider

  • Check your local cannabis regulations to make sure your discounts and promotions are compliant. Consider enabling these settings in the Backoffice under Settings > Location:
    • Only Discount Cannabis Items to a Minimum of $0.01 prevents budtenders from giving away cannabis items for free and may be required to keep "buy one, get one" deals compliant.
    • Only Discount Items to their Cost prevents budtenders from discounting any item below its wholesale cost.
  • Managing discounts requires both View discounts and Edit discounts permissions.
  • Discounts are shared across all your locations, though you can restrict discounts to certain locations.
  • You can restrict discounts to certain customers by creating Customer groups before creating discounts.

  6. Choose whether to Group by SKU (require all items to be of the same SKU) or Include non-cannabis items.
  7. Further define which products qualify for the bundle discount by adding restrictions on the Strains, Categories, Brands, Vendors, Weights, Tags, Pricing tiers, and Products tabs. Select the Restricton summary tab to review the list of qualifying products.
  8. Optionally, click Add bundle item to add another set of qualifying products. This allows you to create a bundle that requires, for example, 1 item from the first set of products, 2 items from the second set of products, etc.
  9. Scroll up and select the Options tab to set additional options such as weekly recurrence or online availability, and to limit the discount to certain customers and locations.
  10. Click Save.

"Buy x, get y" promotions

To set up promotions that require the customer to buy a combination or quantity of certain products to get a reward such as "buy a cartridge, get a free battery" or "buy 3 joints, get a 4th for 50% off", create a discount with constraints:

  1. Go to Marketing > Discounts > Create discount.

Troubleshoot issues with bundled discounts

Bundled discount does not display on the online menu, but it applies to the cart when the customer is shopping in store.

If the discount is set as a "Bundled discount" in DutchiePOS, it will sync over to online menus an "Offer." Offers do not show a sale price on online menus. Instead, they appear at checkout.

Workaround: Configure the discount as a "Sale:" This will ensure the discounted price will show on the menu.
