Apply loyalty points in the Dutchie Register

Customers who have accrued loyalty points can redeem their points for cash value or for a pre-configured discount.

Things to consider

  • This article applies to Dutchie POS’s built-in loyalty features. You may follow a different process if you use a third-party loyalty integration such as Alpine IQ or Springbig.
  • You need to set up a loyalty program before customers can earn points from their purchases. Click Register for loyalty in the cart header to opt individual customers into your loyalty program.
  • If you have the Apply Loyalty Points Automatically to Cart setting turned on, all available points are applied automatically, and no action is required. Find this setting under Marketing > Loyalty > Settings or Settings > Location.

Redeem points for cash value

You can only redeem loyalty points for cash value if the Apply loyalty as cash value setting is turned on. Find this setting under Marketing > Loyalty > Settings or Settings > Location.

  1. Add items to a cart.
  2. Click the ellipsis (...) button at the top of the cart and choose Apply loyalty.

  3. You can Apply all available points or enter the number of points the customer wants to redeem and Apply entered points. If you need to change the number of points applied, enter a different number, and click Apply entered points again to update the cart, or click Clear applied points.

Available Pts reflects the dollar value of your loyalty points (based on the accrual rate you set in the Backoffice) and the current cart subtotal. In the example below, 1 point = $1.00 and the cart subtotal is $160.00.

If the Apply loyalty as a discount setting is turned off, you can apply loyalty toward tax.

You can also apply loyalty points on the Select payment type menu and apply the cash value of loyalty points just like any other payment method.

Redeem points for a pre-configured discount

If you have set up discounts that require loyalty points, and the customer has enough loyalty points for a given discount, the discount is available to apply manually just like any other manual discount.

The discount’s required point value is deducted from the customer’s total when you complete the transaction.
