Track sales from a marketing or advertising campaign

Dutchie supports all standard UTM query parameters used by industry-standard analytics platforms, as well as our own dutchie Analytics. 

What are UTM Query Parameters?

Simply put, UTM parameters are tags you add to a URL — when your link is clicked, the tags are sent back to dutchie Analytics, as well as Google Analytics and tracked. With these tags (UTM Parameters), you can link to gauge the effectiveness of your campaigns and identify the best ways to drive more visitors to your menu!

You'll be able to utilize this functionality with all subdomain, embedded, and dutchie.com menus.

dutchie.com menu example:

http://dutchie.com/dispensaries/yourdispensaryname?utm_medium=newsletter&utm_campaign=july2020

What kind of parameters can I use?

There are 5 different parameters you can add to your URLs, but there are 3 main parameters that are widely used.

• utm_source: The source helps you identify the location (source) that is sending you web traffic.

• utm_medium: This is the medium you used to advertise or market to consumers. It could be things like an email newsletter, banner, or text message.

• utm_campaign: This is the individual marketing campaign name or promo code for a product. An example might look like - "july2020campaign"

You can string multiple different parameters together on one URL by using "&" like this:

• http://dutchie.com/dispensaries/yourdispensaryname?utm_medium=newsletter&utm_campaign=july2020

How do I track conversion/sales from an email marketing campaign?

This depends on what tools you are using to market or advertise your products, but here are some steps if are using an email marketing provider like MailChimp, SendGrid, etc.

1. Grab the URL of your dispensary menu. This link will need to be a page with your dutchie menu on it, not your website's homepage. If you do not link the user straight to the menu, we are unable to capture the revenue that was captured within that user's click-through.

2. Determine what specific parameters you want to track in your campaign using the descriptions mentioned above and create your URL. We recommend using a Campaign URL Builder to simplify the process!

Example: http://dutchie.com/dispensaries/yourdispensaryname?utm_medium=newsletter&utm_campaign=july2020

3. Use that link in a call to action in your campaign. Any click through actions from receivers on the link you created should be tracked in your dutchie Analytics in the Marketing dashboard. We'll associate any orders processed through your dutchie menu with campaign "july2020" or whatever you have named the UTM campaign.

How to Export Dutchie Orders

Dutchie will also capture any utm_source parameter and store it with the order data. This data is then available to you via the dutchie order export.

1. Go to dutchie Admin > Reporting.

2. Fill in the details of the Export fields including Order Status, Type, Menu Type, and a Date Range.

3. A .csv file will be sent to the email associated with the logged in user.
