Process delivery orders and add delivery drivers in Dutchie Ecommerce
This article applies to Dutchie Ecommerce.
How to Process a Delivery Order
With Dutchie Ecommerce, you can optionally require the customer to upload a picture of their government-issued ID, as well as of their medical card as a qualification for placing an order. These options can be enabled only by Dutchie Ecommerce staff. If you want these options enabled for your store, or if your dispensary is located in Massachusetts where pre-verification is required for recreational (adult use) sales, reach out to support@dutchie.com or your success manager.
If you enable these options, your staff can then click into the order and view the customer IDs as well as see the address of the delivery. These options can help to ensure a valid customer before dispatching your delivery driver.
Selecting View ID or View Card in the Order Details displays the card image.
Note: There is no automated validation of these uploads by default. Your staff must manually verify the submitted documents. (This can vary depending on your order sync integration.)
After you select Confirm, you'll be prompted to start the delivery and select your delivery driver. (This can vary depending on your order sync integration.)
How to Pre-Verify Identification
In some states, you might be required to verify a customer's identification prior to fulfilling and delivering certain orders. You can use the same workflow as above to require the customer to upload images of their identification, and can optionally request that customers provide a driver's license or identification card number in the Additional Info field of the customer checkout page.
As a part of reviewing the order details prior to beginning delivery fulfillment, you can select the "View ID" button on the Order Details page:
If you determine that the submitted identification is invalid, you can cancel the order on the Order Details page and provide "Customer didn't have proper identification" as the reason:
How to Add a Delivery Driver
- To add a driver to your staff, first, build them as a user (Settings -> Users). If the staff member is a driver only, you can keep their permissions to Orders only -> Save.
- A checkbox will appear next to the employee’s name to mark them as a driver.
- Click Confirm on the order, then Start Delivery (this sends the customer a text that their order is on the way).
- You will be prompted to select a driver for the order.
Experience as a Delivery Driver
Once an order has been assigned to the delivery driver, they’ll receive a text message indicating they have been assigned a delivery. Once they click the link, they have full visibility into the order, can make a call to the customer, get directions, see the receipt and close out the order once they have completed delivery.
Closing the order in a timely manner is important to your overall closing times. A driver should put emphasis on closing an order immediately after delivering it to the customer.
