Assign a static IP address to your label printer
This article applies to Greenbits.
Greenbits recommends assigning a static IP address for all label printers. This helps maintain a strong, stable connection, especially if your router reboots after losing power.
Assign a static IP address
- Get the current IP address of your printer by printing a Network Configuration label.
- Zebra ZD410: Press and hold the feed and cancel buttons for 2 seconds.
- Zebra LP2824 and GX420d: Press and hold the feed button until the green light flashes once, then release.
- Zebra ZD410: Press and hold the feed and cancel buttons for 2 seconds.
- On the Network Configuration label, note the IP ADDRESS.
- Go to a computer, tablet, or smartphone that's connected to the same network/router as your printer.
- Open a new browser window, and enter the IP address in the web address bar, ignoring any leading zeros. For example, if your Network Configuration label reads 010.001.012.082, enter 10.1.12.82. This takes you to a configuration page for your printer.
- Select View and Modify Printer Settings.
- Enter the password 1234 and select Submit Changes.
- Click on the "access granted" message to proceed, then select Network Configuration.
- Select TCP/IP Settings.
- On the IP PROTOCOL dropdown menu, select PERMANENT and then Submit Changes.
- Select View and Modify Printer Settings.
- Select Save Current Configuration.
- Reboot the printer. Repeat step 1 to print a new Network Configuration label and confirm that IP PROTOCOL now reads PERMANENT.
Reset to factory defaults
If you change settings on your current network/router, or if you ever need to replace your router with a new one, you will also need to reset your printer to factory defaults and then repeat process above to assign a new static IP address.
- With the printer turned on, use a paperclip or similar small object to press and hold the reset button on the bottom of the printer for 6 to 10 seconds.
- A new set of configuration labels prints, confirming a successful reset.
- Assign a new static IP address.
