A transaction limit is the maximum amount of cannabis that a customer may purchase in a single visit.
Selling over the limit is a major compliance issue, which is why Greenbits is built with transaction limits specific to your state which prevent budtenders from mistakenly selling over the limit in a single transaction. If your state has a patient database, Greenbits checks patient limits, too, when you assign a Patient at the Register.
Note: if your state also enforces time-based limits, such a limit on the amount an individual may purchase within a 24-hour period, refer to customer transaction history.
You can make sure the appropriate limits are applied by following these best practices:
- Make sure each Product Type is assigned to the correct Transaction Limit Type.
- Make sure that all of your unit-based Products have accurate weights.
- Make sure you enter Test Results on all barcodes (SKUs).
Compliance warnings and permissions
When a user attempts to sell over any transaction limit, the Register displays a compliance warning. In this example, a budtender is trying to sell 3.5 grams of flower, which is more than the 1-ounce transaction limit. When they tap the Charge button, they see a compliance warning.
If the budtender taps Ignore & Continue, someone with Skip sales warning permission (like a Supervisor or Manager) will have to enter their PIN to continue.
Permission to override this warning is controlled by Skip sales warning. This permission can be enabled or disabled on the Roles page, in the Make Sales section.
