Merge Packages
This article applies to Greenbits.
If you have Manual State Link, use this article about merging instead. This information applies only to states that use Metrc as their traceability system.
Merging a Package means combining the remaining quantities of two or more Packages, and then assigning the combined inventory to a new Package ID. This is also commonly known as "retagging."
Only merge Packages in Greenbits. If you merge Packages directly in Metrc, your inventory will be out of sync.
You should merge Packages any time you need to:
- Combine Packages of the same product from the same harvest/batch.
- Combine Packages of different product to send for re-testing or processing into a new product.
Merging often involves combining items with different test results, or from different batches. A Package you create from a merge will usually need to be re-tested. Make sure you understand your local testing requirements before merging any Packages.

Steps in Greenbits
Once you've completed the above steps, you're ready to merge Packages in Greenbits:
- In Greenbits, go to Inventory > Packages.
- Search for the Package IDs you want to merge.
- You can enter a full Package ID, or a part of a Package ID.
- Use a comma or space to separate each Package ID in the search field.
- In the search results, check the box next to each of the Packages you want to merge.
- Select Merge Selected.
- Paste the new Package ID from Metrc into the New Package ID field in Greenbits.
- Package IDs are case-sensitive. Make sure all letters in the Package ID are capitalized.

For the New Wholesale Cost, Greenbits calculates the weighted average cost of all the Packages you're merging.
- Select OK.
- Confirm the accuracy of your entries, then select Looks Good. This completes the merge and reports it to Metrc.
What's next?
- Immediately change the status of all merged Packages to Not For Sale (remember, some Packages have more than one SKU). If you have Prevent Sales When Quantity Reaches 0 enabled, this happens automatically.
- If you plan to transfer the new Package, change its status to Not For Sale as well.
- Place the physical inventory together in the same container along with the new RFID tag.
- The new Package is available in your Greenbits inventory immediately. Before taking any further action on the original Packages or new Package, confirm that the merge was successfully reported in Metrc. This may take up to 30 minutes.
- Finally, in Greenbits, close the Packages that you merged. This also finishes the Packages in Metrc.
If you plan to transfer the new Package to another location, you're now ready to transfer inventory in Metrc.
