Automatically clean up inventory
This article applies to Greenbits.
Greenbits automatically marks a barcode (SKU) as Not For Sale when it has had 0 quantity and no activity for 120 days.
This "clean up" process reduces the number of barcodes (SKUs) that the Register has to load when you sign in at the beginning of the day, which helps improve the Register app's overall performance.
If you want to receive an email about every barcode (SKU) that Greenbits automatically changes to Not For Sale, enable Inventory Clean Up notifications in your Email Settings.
Why does Greenbits do this?
Some users prefer not to use the Prevent Sales When Quantity Reaches 0 setting because it changes barcodes (SKUs) to Not For Sale as soon as you sell the last unit. If a customer comes in later to return an item from that barcode (SKU), you need to change the barcode (SKU) back to For Sale in Back Office before you can process the return at the Register.
Disabling the Prevent Sales setting avoids this problem, but also increases the amount of inventory the Register app has to load, which causes long loading times and degraded performance.
The automatic cleanup process is a compromise that allows you to easily process customer returns without overloading your Register with an excessive amount of old, sold-out inventory. We use a 120-day window because data suggests that almost no returns happen more than 120 days after the original sale.
