Move inventory between Places
This article applies to Greenbits.
The first time you enable Places, Greenbits automatically organizes your inventory into Places based on barcode (SKU) status. After that, Greenbits automatically moves your inventory through Places. You can also manually move inventory from one Place to another if you have the Manage Places permission.
How to move unit-based inventory between Places
- Go to Inventory > Products and find the product you want to move.
- Select the Inventory tab.
- Click the icon with three dots and select Move.
- Move is not available when the barcode (SKU) quantity is zero or less.
- Move is not available when the barcode (SKU) quantity is zero or less.
- Select the From Place and the To Place.
- Back Stock is the default From Place.
- The To Place must be different to the From Place.
- Archived inventory cannot be moved and inventory cannot be moved to Archived.
- Delivery inventory that is On Hold cannot be moved. On Hold inventory will not move from the Delivery place until it is taken off Hold.
- Choose the quantity that you would like to move from one Place to another. You can type in the text box, or use the slider to select the amount of inventory you wish to move.
- Quantity must be higher than zero.
- Quantity must be a whole number (no decimal).
- Quantity cannot be higher than the current available quantity in the From Place.
- A Confirm Move Details screen will allow you to review your choices. Select Back to revise or Looks Good to finalize.
- The quantities in the affected Places will update accordingly.
How to move weight-based inventory between Places
Weight-based inventory follows the same process as unit-based inventory, the only difference is that the quantity slider allows you to move inventory by the desired unit of measure.
