Enter Later: Record drawer totals in Back Office - Greenbits

If a user selects Enter Later when they end a drawer at the Register, you can record the drawer totals on the Shifts page later (in Greenbits, the terms drawer and shift mean the same thing).

  1. Go to Reports > Shifts.
  2. Select the shift from the list. Shifts with missing totals have a Screen_Shot_2019-08-09_at_4.10.35_PM.png next to them.
  3. Enter the Left in Drawer and Drop Amount.enter_later_shift_report.jpg
  4. Optionally, enter a Note about this shift.
  5. Select Save.

You can also end or edit drawers in Back Office any time if you have Administer shifts permissions.

Why use the Enter Later option?

Count cash securely. Although you can also count cash and enter drawer totals right at the Register, the Enter Later option provides additional security by allowing staff to count cash and enter the totals in a secure location away from the sales floor and out of public view.

Staff accountability. The Enter Later option can also add a layer of accountability to your cash management processes. A budtender can end their drawer/shift at the Register, then another staff member such as a manager or shift supervisor can independently verify and enter the drawer totals.

Easy reconciliation. By design, when a budtender ends their drawer at the Register, Greenbits does not show the expected net cash amount. Not knowing how much money should be in the drawer encourages careful cash management and discourages theft.

As a manager, however, the expected total is important to know so you can ensure proper reconciliation and identify irregularities. When you use the Enter Later option, Greenbits shows the Current Amount (starting amount + sales and paid ins - returns and paid outs) on the Shift Report in Back Office when you go to record the totals. current_amount.jpg
