Curbside Pick-Up Overview and Best Practices - Greenbits
This article applies to Greenbits.
Some states allow you to take orders and have customers pick them up from your curbside.
Curbside pick-up is different from delivery. Most states require you and your products to stay near your store. For example, in Oregon, you must stay within 150 feet of your store and your cameras must cover that area. Check with your state cannabis agency to find out if curbside pick-up is allowed in your state.
Here are the workflows you'll use for curbside pick-up
- You can use Pending Orders to do curbside pick-up using this workflow.
- If you use an ecommerce program that to fufill online orders, follow this workflow.
Best practices for curbside pick-up
Your inventory for pick-up will be moving through your store in a different way than inventory for other sales. Set up strong inventory practices for curbside pick-ups, so you know where your physical inventory is at all times.
- If you are using Pending Orders, items that are pending are still available for sale in your Greenbits inventory until you charge the customer. To make sure your online inventory is as accurate as possible, increase your menu feed thresholds to account for items in Pending Orders.
- Give your customers a deadline of the end of the day for picking up orders.
- If the customer does not pick up their order by the end of the day, delete the order. Put items that haven't been picked up back into your store stock.
- Decide where phone orders will be filled. It's ideal if you can dedicate one person and one area specifically for filling pick-up orders.
- Decide where to store orders until pick-up. This should be an area away from other inventory, and it should be clearly marked as pick-up.
- Decide who will take the orders out to the curbside and train them to keep pick-up orders separate from other inventory.
- If you don't have one already, set up an auditing schedule and stick to it.
