Washington: Set up DoH-certified products in Greenbits

Certain products that are certified by the Washington state Department of Health to meet certain testing and packaging standards require a separate tax setup to exempt qualifying patients from the state cannabis excise tax. Here's how to set up these DoH-certified products in Greenbits so they are tax-exempt for patients but still taxable for recreational customers.

Create new product types and assign DoH-certified products

  1. Create new product types for DoH-certified products. For example, DoH Concentrates or DoH Edibles in addition to your regular product types for Concentrates and Edibles.
  2. Create DoH-certified products and assign them to your new DoH product types, or reassign existing products to DoH product types

Update your cannabis excise tax applicability

  1. In the Back Office, select the Settings gear and then Taxes.
  2. Select your state cannabis excise tax.
  3. In the Product Types & Customer Groups grid, check the boxes in the Customer column for each of your new DoH product types, leaving the Patient boxes unchecked for these product types.
  4. Click Save. You do not need to make any changes to the tax rate or schedule.
