Customer segmentation is a great way to identify and group customers based on shared shopping behavior and other characteristics. Segmentation is important for understanding what your customers want, need, and are likely to do. You can use customer segmentation in Dutchie POS to create messaging relevant to your customers’ needs and create more personalized experiences for your customers.
Things to consider
- Segmentation runs nightly in the background of Dutchie POS and automatically adds and removes customers to each segment based on the parameters defined.
- Dutchie includes 11 default segments that are common scenarios for dispensaries and can be edited to fit your needs. These segments are inactive by default and can be activated when needed.
Create customer segments in Dutchie Backoffice
When you create a segment and click Save, Dutchie runs a query for customers in your system and adds customers to the segment based on customer data in your system. To create a segment:
- Go to Customers > Segments.
- Click Create Segment.
- Enter a name for your segment in the Name field.
- In the Add customers who meet the following conditions section, configure the attributes to fit your segment.
- Click Save.

This segment represents attributes tied to customer actions like first purchase, last purchase, and spending. The following attribute customer data points are available in this segment:

Use segment
The Use segment button allows you to quickly put your segments in action to send emails to customers in the segment for promotions or updates and give customers in the segment a discount on certain products.
