Some states prohibit cannabis retailers from collecting and retaining their customers' personal information or require the customer's written consent before doing so. Or, customers may prefer not to provide their personal information.

For recreational/adult-use customers, you can use the Anonymous Guest button at the Register to check in customers without collecting their information. Learn more.

For medical patients, use the following steps:

In Dutchie POS Backoffice

Configure required fields

1. Go to Customers > Configure
2. Select the Fields tab.
3. You can set customer fields to Show, Hide, or Required. Choose whatever fits your operations best, but make sure personal information fields are not set to Required.
4. Set the MMJ ID field as Required.

Create patient profiles

1. Select Customers from the side menu.
2. Click Add customer.
3. Set Type to Medical.
4. Enter the patient’s state-issued medical cannabis ID number into every required field. Required fields are marked with an asterisk (*). Do not enter any other information.
5. Click Save.

At the Register

1. From the Guest List, click Create Guest.
2. Select a medical Customer Type. You may have multiple options here depending on your configuration, such as Medical, Medical - Out of State, Medical - Tax Exempt, etc.
   
3. In the Personal Details section, enter the patient’s state-issued medical cannabis ID number into every required field. Required fields are marked with an asterisk (*). Do not enter any other information.
4. In the MMJ State ID section:
   1. Select the State that issued the ID.
   2. Enter the Start Date and Expiration Date from the ID.
   3. Enter the ID Number and Doctor Designation Number (if no Doctor Designation Number exists, enter the patient’s medical cannabis ID number in this field also).
5. Click Create.

Check patients in anonymously

Check-in existing patients by searching for their medical cannabis ID number.
