Metrc Retail ID introduces a new system where vendors affix unique QR codes to each individual cannabis product unit. These QR codes serve as a comprehensive identifier throughout the product's journey, from intake to check out. For cannabis retailers using Dutchie, Metrc Retail ID is designed to simplify inventory management, streamline sales, and boost compliance. By leveraging unique QR codes on individual product units, it eliminates tedious manual tasks and provides instant access to crucial product information.

Scanning QR Codes at the register
Metrc Retail ID streamlines the checkout process, making it quicker and more accurate for budtenders.

When using Retail ID, Dutchie automatically sends the QR ID to Metrc upon sale completion, ensuring real-time compliance reporting.
- Select Customer: Select the customer's card from the Guestlist page.
- Add Items to Cart: Scan each Metrc QR code (or a barcode printed from Dutchie POS if needed) to add items to the customer's cart.

What Dutchie retailers need to do
To enable and fully utilize Metrc Retail ID in your Dutchie operations, follow these setup steps:
Enable settings in Dutchie POS
- Go to Settings > Integrations > Metrc > Settings.
- Set the following options to Yes:
- Use Metrc V2 (This may be enabled by default or not appear in states that require it.)
- Use Retail ID
- Click Save.
Configure user permissions
Ensure your inventory managers have the necessary permissions:
- In Dutchie POS: Enable the Manually Fetch QR IDs permission within the Integrations section.
- In Metrc: The Product Labels permission should be set to Manage.
Acquire a 2D Scanner
A 2D scanner is essential for efficiently scanning QR codes. Dutchie provides recommendations for compatible barcode scanners.
New functionality for Metrc retail ID users
QR code icons in Dutchie
QR icons appear in several places in Dutchie Backoffice to help retailers identify packages that have Retail IDs.
Inventory and receive tables
In the inventory and receive inventory tables, a package that has Retail IDs will have a QR code icon next to the package ID.
On the inventory package details page, a package that has Retail IDs will have a QR code icon next to the name.
Inventory actions
In inventory, there is a page-level action called “Check QR codes”, prompting users to scan any Retail ID QR code.
Check QR codes
We are adding a Check QR codes option to the Actions' dropdown in inventory. This action prompts users to scan any Retail ID QR code.
Successful scan: If the QR code belongs to one of our package groups, it will display in a table on the modal with additional options to “scan another”, “open package details”, or “preview Metrc ID”.
Failed scan: If the QR code DOES NOT belong to one of our package groups, users will be given troubleshooting steps. If you click “Preview Metrc ID” and it belongs to a package that has not been received, contact the supplier for guidance to send it back or adjust the package.
Fetch QR IDs
When you click the three dots next to the package, you'll see a new action called 'Fetch QR IDs.' This action will fetch and re-sync QR codes from Metrc. This is helpful if the supplier generated more QR codes in Metrc after the package was already received.
Note
This is tied to a new permission within the Integrations > Metrc permissions called Manually Fetch QR IDs.
Returns
When returning a package with Retail IDs, users can Scan to Return. If they scan a QR ID that did not belong to the transaction, they’ll get an error message.
