Manage inventory records in Rooms and Subrooms in Dutchie POS
This article applies to Dutchie POS.
Learn how to assign, manage, and move rooms and subrooms in Dutchie POS.
Things to consider
- Some Room settings require additional features or options to be enabled. Please reach out to Support or your Customer Success Manager to learn more.
- Rooms and Subrooms can also be assigned and moved from Cultivation > Plants.
Rooms
From Rooms, you can create rooms and subrooms and assign plants, inventory, and customers to them.
Different kinds of facilities require different kinds of rooms. Most retail facilities require a sales floor room, inventory rooms, and waiting rooms. Cultivation facilities require plant rooms and inventory rooms. Production facilities require inventory rooms.
Go to Settings > Rooms
Add a Room
- From Rooms click Add room button.
- Fill out settings in the New Room window.
- Click Add.
Update a Room
- From Rooms click the room you want to update.
- Make changes to the settings.
- Click Update.
Room types and settings
The types or rooms you create depend on your facility and its needs.
Room type or setting | Requirements | Facility Type | Notes |
Quarantine room | Is Inventory Room must also be set. | Retail | Create at least one Quarantine Room that you can assign returned inventory to. |
Waiting room | Retail | Create at least one Waiting Room that you can use to check in customers. | |
Sales floor | Is Inventory Room must also be set. | Retail | Inventory in Sales Floor rooms is visible and can be sold at the Register. Inventory in non-sales floor rooms is hidden from all registers. You should have at least one Sales Floor. |

Represents any Room that can house Inventory Packages. Create at least one Inventory Room to house curing inventory in cultivation facilities. Create at least one inventory room to assign harvests. |

External ID | This field previously displayed an ID number for a linked room in Metrc or BioTrack but is now defunct for most operators and should be disregarded. | ||

Subrooms
Subrooms are sublevels of Rooms. Subrooms can be used to represent subsections within inventory rooms.
Subrooms are associated with Rooms, but they can move independently from Rooms in plant management workflows.
Note!
Some management of Subrooms can be done from Cultivation > Plants.
There are two ways to create a Subroom.
- From Settings > Rooms, choose the Room you want to create a Subroom for.
- Click the Add a Subroom button.
- Fill in the name of the Subroom.
- Use the dropdown field to choose the Room you want to associate the Subroom with.
- Click Add.
Or
- From Rooms > Subrooms click the Add a Subroom button.
- Fill in the name of the Subroom.
- Use the dropdown field to choose the Room you want to associate the Subroom with.
- Optionally, choose the dimensions of the Subroom.
- Click Add.
Assign Rooms to menu
You can assign a menu system (Dutchie, Leafly, Weedmaps, etc.) to your Rooms by enabling the Assign Rooms to Menu option in Settings > Location > Options.
To enable menu integrations, your location will need to have at least one Ecommerce Room that is also set as an Inventory Room. If you a using an integration you'll need to make sure the Room the inventory is in is accessible by the integration. To do this, go to Settings > Rooms:
- Select the Room.
- Click Rooms accessible by menu.
- Select the Menu/Integration.
- Click Save.
