Transactions are declined for a variety of reasons, including:
- The consumer has insufficient funds in their account (i.e., the total transaction amount is higher than the available balance).
- The transaction exceeds the consumer’s daily, weekly, or monthly velocity (spending) limit. Learn more details on limits.
- Their account has been flagged for unusual activity as a fraud prevention measure.
In the event of a declined transaction, inform the customer their transaction was declined and request another form of payment.
