Mark a customer as banned in Dutchie POS Register

If a customer is no longer welcome to shop at your dispensaries, you can mark the customer's profile as Banned so other employees don't serve that customer or accept orders from them.

Mark a customer as banned

Unless your organization requests that customer profiles not be shared across locations when you mark a customer as banned, that customer is banned from all of your locations in Dutchie POS, and you cannot ban the customer from a specific location.

At the Register

  1. Select Customers or Guest List from the POS side navigation.
  2. Enter the guest name you want to view in the search field and press Enter.
  3. Click the pencil icon next to their name or the Edit Profile button on the guest pane.

How to tell if a customer is banned

In the Guest list, banned customers appear with a red guest card and a Banned customer warning at the bottom:

The same warning appears on the customer profile:

And in their cart:

Employees can still check in a banned customer and create a cart for them unless you turn on the Block Banned Customers setting.

Block banned customers from check-in

By default, employees can still check in a banned customer and create a cart for them. If you want the Register to prevent employees from serving banned customers at your location.

  1. In the Backoffice, go to Settings > Location.
  2. Check the box for Block Banned Customers.
  3. Click Save.

Dutchie Ecommerce orders from banned customers

Customers marked as banned in Dutchie POS can still submit orders to your dispensary through Dutchie Ecommerce. If an order is received and any of the customer's information matches a banned customer profile in Dutchie POS, the order will appear with the Banned customer warning.

If the Block Banned Customers setting is turned on for your location and a user selects a banned customer card from the Guest list, they're prompted to cancel the transaction or edit the customer's profile to change their Banned status to Active. The user cannot create a cart without changing the customer's status first.

Canceling an order in Dutchie POS automatically cancels the order in Dutchie Ecommerce but does not automatically notify the customer, and orders prepaid through a payment integration are automatically refunded. Notifying the customer or refunding pre-payments must be done manually in Dutchie Ecommerce.
