Scan ID FAQs - Dutchie POS Register

Explore questions about the Scan ID button (Formerly the Check-in button) in Dutchie POS Register.

What hardware do I need to scan customers in?

We currently support these two-dimensional (2D) scanners only:

  • Zebra H-6672 (2D, wired only)
  • Zebra DS2208
  • Zebra CS6080
  • Zebra CR6080
  • Zebra DS2278 2D Barcode Scanner

Can I check in a banned customer?

When a customer is marked as Banned, you can check them in if the Block banned customer setting is disabled under Settings > Location

If this setting is enabled, the check-in button will be inactive and the customer must be removed from the Banned list to be checked in. From the modal, you can click "Edit profile" and change the status from Banned to Active, then proceed to check in the customer.

Do I need to purchase new hardware to use Dutchie’s scanning solution?

If you have the 2D barcode scanner from our list of recommended hardware, no.

If you don’t have scanners or have one-dimensional (1D) scanners, yes. The 1D scanner will parse the data but can't verify ID information.

Does Dutchie's ID scanning solution detect fraudulent IDs?

No. Dutchie's ID scanning solution does not detect fraudulent IDs. However, our integration with VeriScan includes fraud-detection features.

How does Dutchie POS handle ID expiration when scanning

  • ID Scan Workflow: When you scan a customer’s ID at the register, Dutchie POS reads the expiration date encoded in the barcode. If the expiration date is in the past, or within a warning window (typically 60 days before expiration), the system will flag the ID as expired or soon-to-expire.

  • Manual Update: The system does not automatically update or override the expiration date in the customer profile based on a new scan. If the profile in Dutchie POS has an old expiration date, scanning a valid, non-expired ID will not update the profile’s expiration date automatically. You must manually update the expiration date in the customer’s profile if it is incorrect.
