Log in to the Dutchie Register with a PIN

PIN login is an optional feature that allows dispensary staff to log in to the Register with a PIN instead of their username and password. Learn how it works in this article.

Things to know

  • Your PIN will log you into any location where you have the necessary permissions. If you have access to multiple locations within your organization, the same PIN works for each location.
  • If you enter the incorrect PIN, you’ll have 4 additional attempts before your account is locked. Once your account is locked, you must log in with your username and password and then reset your PIN.
  • PINs are unique to each user and are randomly generated. Users cannot choose their PINs.
  • When PIN login is enabled, users with POS Manager permissions will use the same PIN to log in and to approve manager-only actions such as manager discounts, voids, etc.

Enable PIN login

Before you open or after you close for the day, go to Settings > Location in the Backoffice. In the Point of Sale section, check the box for Use PIN Login, and click Save. This setting is location-specific and only enables PIN login for the location you are logged in to.

Generate and reset PIN

Each PIN is unique to the user and auto-generated. Users cannot choose their PINs.

To reset your PIN:

In the Backoffice

  1. Go to Settings > Account.
  2. Click Reset PIN.
Account settings page with PIN reset option.
  3. Enter your username and password, and click Continue.
  4. Click the closed-eye icon to view your new PIN. You will not be able to view this PIN again; if you forget it, you'll have to reset it again.

Switch users and log in with a PIN

  1. When logged into the Register, click the username in the upper right to go to the login screen.
  2. Another user can now enter their PIN and click Enter.

Change the length of PINs

By default, PINs are 6 digits. Dispensary admins can choose a different length between 4 and 10 digits for all users in their organization.

  1. In the Backoffice, go to Registers > Configure > Global Settings.
  2. Select your desired Pin length.

  3. Click Save.

This will not change or invalidate any existing user PINs. The new length only applies to new/reset PINs going forward.
