When you enable delivery in Dutchie E-Commerce, you will need to set up delivery areas, which also include a minimum order amount for delivery. Learn how to set up delivery areas and minimums in this article.
Note: If you're integrated with Dutchie POS and have enabled Discount Sync, taxes and fees shown in carts and applied at checkout are based on Dutchie POS settings. Learn more.
- From Dutchie E-Commerce admin go to Settings > Ordering > Delivery.
- From the Delivery Area dropdown, choose from:
- Mile Radius - create a circular zone that is within X miles from your facility's location.
- Drawn Zones - draw your own custom zone boundaries on a map
- Zip Code - set a delivery area based on zip code(s)
- Cities / Towns - enter the name of a city or town to create a zone that corresponds to the entire city/town limits, including multiple cities and towns.
Mile radius
Mile radius is the mileage ‘as the crow flies’.
- Set Delivery Minimum and Maximum Delivery Distance. If your point of sale platform also has a delivery minimum setting, make sure this matches between Dutchie E-Commerce and your point of sale.
- Add a delivery fee.
Drawn zones
Use the polygon tool to select your delivery area street by street. You can have many areas within one zone or several different zones.
- Go to Add Delivery Zone
- Choose Drawn Zones from the set delivery area by dropdown.
- Click the + Add Zone link. You can click the View All Zones link to see which zones have already been created.
- Enter a name for the zone.
- Click on the map.
- Zoom to the area you want to outline.
- Click and connect the dots.
- To move over to a new area on the map, click and hold while dragging to a new area.
- It is recommended to save your changes after each drawn zone is entered.
- Enter a Delivery Fee and Delivery Minimum for this zone.
- Click Save Zone. Repeat the above steps to create additional zones.
- Optionally, set specific delivery hours for each zone.
If you're integrated with Dutchie POS, automatic delivery fees from Dutchie POS control the delivery fees reflected online in Dutchie E-Commerce. Zone-specific automatic delivery fees in Dutchie POS may not correspond exactly with drawn delivery zones in Dutchie E-Commerce. However, manual fees from Dutchie POS do not appear in Dutchie E-Commerce at all.
To avoid this issue:
- Update your Dutchie E-Commerce delivery zones so they're based on the same mile radius, zip code, or city as your Dutchie POS delivery zones.
- Apply a manual delivery fee in Dutchie POS and use the checkout message text to inform customers that the fee will be added upon delivery.
Zip code or postal code
Choosing this option will limit delivery orders to an exact zip code or postal code.
- Click + Add Zip Code, set the Delivery Fee and type, and set the Delivery Minimum.
- Click the Save Zip Code button to save.
Cities / Towns
Choosing this option creates a zone based on official city/town limits. Click + Add Zone to get started.
Enter a Zone Name, then type the name of a city or town you want to include in your delivery area. Select the city from the search results.
Add more cities and towns as needed, then enter your Fee Type (flat dollar amount or percentage of order total), Delivery Fee, and Delivery Minimum (the minimum order total required for delivery in this area). Click Save Zone.
