Apply and modify fees and donations in the Dutchie POS Register
This article applies to Dutchie POS.
Fees and donations created in the Backoffice can be applied and modified at the Register. Fees are automatically added to carts that meet the configured criteria or may be added manually. This article will walk you through how to apply and modify fees and donations in the cart.

- Before you can apply fees and donations at the Register you need to configure fees and donations in the Backoffice.

Apply fees and donations manually
You can manually apply fees and donations at the Register. For instance, if you were to ask a customer if they want to donate a certain amount to a cause during checkout, you can add that amount to the purchase as a donation. To apply fees or donations manually:
- Add an item(s) to the cart.
- Click the three dots (...) in the cart header and choose Fees and donations.
- Select from the list of Available Fees & Donations.
Note: If the fee or donation you're looking for isn't shown, check your settings in the Backoffice. Some settings require admin permissions to view, so reach out to your Dutchie administrator to confirm settings if needed. - Click Apply Fee / Donation.
- Click the X in the upper corner to return to the cart.
Automatic fees and donations
Some fees and donations are set up to automatically apply when you add a qualifying item or combination of items to a cart. For instance, in the Backoffice, you can configure certain products to automatically have a fee applied at checkout, such as an automatic bottle and can deposit applied to beverages in states that require this.
These fees and donations appear in the total price, just like manual fees and donations. You can review all applied fees and donations by selecting Fees and donations. See Collect additional fees and donations to learn more about setting up fees and donations.
Modify fees and donations
Once a fee and donation has been applied, it can be modified in the cart:
- Click the three dots (...) in the cart header and choose Fees and donations.
- Select the fee or donation you want to modify from the list of Available Fees & Donations list.
- Users with the necessary permissions can make changes in the Selected Fee / Donation panel.
- Click Apply Fee / Donation.
- The Subtotal section in the cart is updated to include any fees and donations applied.
Remove fees and donations
Important
Removing a fee or donation is different from remitting. In the instance where a customer is charged a fee or donation and it needs to be refunded, you'll need to void the transaction and process it as a refund, see Void a transaction and Process a refund.
To remove a fee and donation, click the trash icon next to the fee in the Fees & Donations Already Applied section.
