Label troubleshooting: Printing and resizing QR codes in Dutchie POS
This guide offers troubleshooting instructions for printing operations like QR code printing issues, product printing and resizing problems, and incomplete displays in Dutchie POS.
Problem
This troubleshooting guide addresses the following problems related to QR codes:
- QR codes not printing for certain products
- QR codes not printing for any products
- Resizing QR codes
- QR codes not fully displaying on labels
Solutions
QR codes aren’t printing for specific products
- If initially unoffered, ask the customer for the name(s) of the product/products for which the QR code is failing to print
- Go to Products > Inventory, and locate at least one of the products failing to print.
- Click the product’s SKU to view the basic information.
-
Observe the External package ID field: Is it empty?
- If the field is empty, copy the value entered in the Package ID field into the External package ID field. These fields must contain identical values for QR codes to print.
- Look up other products and repeat Steps 3-4a.
- After entering the Package ID value into the External. package ID field, attempt another test print.
- If the test print fails again, escalate the issue.
QR codes aren’t printing for any products
Steps to Resolve:
-
If QR codes aren’t printing at all verify the following:
-
Is the QR code touching/overlapping with other text?
- If yes, the QR code will likely not print at all. To resolve, reposition the QR code on the label, or resize it to make it smaller (if possible).
-
The label printer may require recalibration.
- See the manufacturer’s support documentation to enable customers to recalibrate their label printer: Zebra Printers Support, Calibrating the Zebra Printer (YouTube).

Can’t resize printed QR code
- If unable to resize a QR code, ensure the technical limit is met. There is a physical/technical limit to how small QR codes can be resized. Anything under .5"x.5" is not possible.
QR Code not fully displaying on label
- Unplug/Replug USB cable from printer.
- Hold pause and cancel on the printer for 2-3 seconds.
- Re-print to confirm if resolved.
