The Sales Report contains transaction-level sales data within a given timeframe for a single location. The Sales Report helps you capture granular sales and transaction data to get insight into sales trends. This report also includes customer information, and for some states, the customer information can be caregiver details. This overview walks you through how to use the Sales report and interpret the data with column names and descriptions.

Getting started

Default dates and search criteria

This report runs for a single person or location with default search dates starting 7 days from the current date using your local timezone. All Sales Reports use order date as the search criteria, and each record pulled is related to closed or completed orders.  

Access

To access this report:

  1. Go to the Reports module in the Backoffice. 
  2. Click Sales and search Sales Report in the search bar.
  3. Click on the report name to bring up the report page and run the report. 

Using the Sales Report 

You can use this report to find specific sales data tied to vendor, product, category, batch, weight, and more. For example, you can use this report to see how many 100mg gummies you sold and how much revenue it brought in.

Column configuration

After running the report, if there are columns you wish to rearrange or remove, you can change this by clicking the Settings cog on the report table. Some columns are hidden by default but configuring the settings will allow you to select, deselect, and drag and drop the column order to customize the view of the  sales data you want to see. 

Descriptions and calculations

The table below describes each of the columns in this report and whether this field is calculated data or base data. Calculated data type describes columns that are made up of multiple points of data being combined such as Net Sales, Gross Sales, or Total Inventory Sold. A Base data type describes data derived from a single point of interest such as a Package ID, Category, or Location Name.   

Column field title Data type Description
Order ID Base data Unique number / identifier attached to an order that identifies the sale.
Order Time Base data The date and time the order was completed. Adheres to local timezone. 
Budtender Name Base data Name of the person completing the sale.
Customer Type Base data Type of customer making a purchase. Customer types are configured in the backoffice.
Vendor Name Base data Name of the vendor associated with a package, or sometimes SKU. 
Product Name Base data Name of the product setup in the catalog. This catalog field determines how the product name is displayed in the inventory and register.
Category Base data Category assigned to the product in the catalog. Typically the Category is connected to the Master Category. Ex. If the Master Category is Edibles, the Category may be gummies.
Package ID Base data A scannable barcode number associated with a location's inventory items. 
Batch ID Base data A unique numerical identifier associated with a specific batch of cannabis inventory and is typically required when receiving inventory.
External Package ID Base data Unique identifier in external traceability systems, often the same as Package ID. Found on inventory packages if you are a licensee who is required to submit sales to Metrc
Total Inventory Sold Calculation Total units of inventory sold. Weight-based items are counted as one item regardless of weight. 
Unit Weight Sold Base data

This field shows the weight per unit sold. 

For weight-based flower products, this unit is 1.

Total Weight Sold Calculation This field is calculated by multiplying the units sold by the unit weight sold. For non-flower products, the grams/concentration value is multiplied by # of units sold. For weight-based flower products, this is the total weight sold in grams.
Gross Sales Calculation Gross Sales is the Price multiplied byQuantity sold for each item sold in the order 
Inventory Cost Calculation Wholesale cost of the inventory sold. 
Discounted Amount Calculation Total amount of the discount(s) applied, excluding loyalty as discount.
Loyalty as Discount Calculation Amount of loyalty applied as a discount toward the pre-tax price of the items sold. 
Net Sales Calculation Total amount of gross sales minus discounts, returns, and loyalty applied as discounts.
Return Date Base data Date an item was returned.
UPC/GTIN (Canada) Base data Relevant to Canadian locations only and best practice is to require for cannabis products.
Provincial SKU (Canada) Base data Relevant to Canadian locations only and best practice is to require for cannabis products.
