Ohio | Hybrid licensed retailer additional FAQs - Dutchie POS

FAQ covering questions about Ohio adult use and medical in Dutchie POS.

Is customer type added to the receipt configuration?

  • Yes. Ohio requires Adult Use or Medical to be displayed on receipts. You can configure your receipt settings in the Backoffice to ensure this requirement is met.

How will POS retailers specify whether a customer is medical vs recreational?

  • POS retailers will specify whether a customer is medical or recreational using Customer Cards.

Will POS retailers need to change their tax setup?

  • Yes, a new 10% tax will need to be configured for recreational sales. See the Ohio tax configuration section for more information.
Note: When setting up this tax, It’s important to use the decimal format in this field as a whole number will yield the wrong rate. If you enter 1 instead of .1 the system will collect 100%.

When setting up the new sales tax, should it be tied to customer type?

  • “Rec only” should be the customer type for this new sales tax. You should also double check the customer types of the current taxes setup in your Back Office. See the "Add Recreational Customer Type" section for more information. For both Medical and Recreational customers, the dropdown fields should say "Show".

Do we need to have a separate Recreational account for medical patients to purchase recreational?

  • No separate Rec account is needed for medical patients. You can either use the anonymous transaction field for rec transactions to separate from a medical order, or once a medical purchase is finished, you can switch the customer type in the customer profile to recreational and begin a new transaction.

If a medical patient is out of days, can they still purchase recreationally?

  • Yes, they will need to make sure their profile (if they have one) is set to recreational for customer type and begin a new transaction. Alternatively, they can purchase recreationally as an anonymous transaction.

What is the difference between medical and recreational product labels? Will there be a way to only print medical patient labels?

  • Medical labels require the dispensary name, dosage, and patient information to be listed whereas recreational labels only require the dispensary name and license number. The labels can be set to print out at the time of purchase like they are now for medical as well as rec. Settings in the Backoffice will help determine which labels are printed for which customer type.
