Learn how to integrate Tribal Metrc and Dutchie POS to keep compliant.

Tribal Metrc is a compliance solution that helps Tribal entities keep track of their cannabis inventory across various jurisdictions. With the latest updates, all Tribes involved in a compact can now connect their Metrc system with state-licensed vendors, which means they can buy a greater variety of products.

Things to consider

  • Tribal clients will have both a Tribal Metrc account and a standard state Metrc account. Dutchie is only integrating with the Tribal account.

Enable Tribal Metrc account

Integrating with a Tribal account works the same as integrating with a state Metrc account, only instead of entering a Metrc API Key you enter a Tribal API Key.

  1. Go to Settings > Integrations.
  2. Select Metrc
  3. Click the Settings tab.
  4. Select Yes from the Enabled dropdown, Real-time from the Mode dropdown, and Yes from the Use Metrc V2 dropdown. .
  5. In the API fields, enter your Tribal API Key and your Tribal URL (https://api-tr.metrc.com)
Note: These are different from your state Metrc account.

Create Tribal catalog items

When creating a Tribal Catalog Item, make sure that catalog item is pushed to Metrc as an Item. The following fields need to be filled out to avoid errors:

  • Strain
    • If no strain is associated with Flower or Concentrate Products, Metrc will reject the item.
    • External Category
    • THC
  • Vendor
  • Is Finished set to Yes
  • Sync To Metrc set to Yes
  • Use External ID set to Yes (This is in your Metrc integration settings, and the external ID tells you that the strain/catalog item/etc has been mapped to Metrc).

Tribal inventory receiving

Notice

Since all of the receiving steps are performed in Metrc we are only able to provide a brief overview. For more information how inventory receives works in Metrc contact your Metrc admin.

When a Tribal dispensary is receiving wholesale cannabis items the transfer will initially go to their State Metrc account. This is different from their Tribal Metrc account. Users first have to acknowledge receipt in the State Metrc account, then go to their Tribal Metrc account and select External Transfers.

There is a new option in the dropdown called cross-jurisdictional Transfer. They will add in the packages and quantity for each item. Then, add the departure and arrival times and register the transfer. Once the transfer is registered, they can select the transfer from the Incoming Transfer dropdown menu in Metrc, then select Complete. In this area, they will next need to change the Metrc tag number from the State Tag to the Tribal Metrc tag number.

Once the transfer is Completed, you can receive the order in Dutchie as they normally would with an incoming Metrc transfer.
