Coming soon: Move beyond one-size-fits-all menus with Dutchie Custom Mobile App Navigation

Use custom navigation to organize and highlight specific brands, collections, categories, and external links within the Dutchie mobile app menu.

Dutchie’s Mobile App Custom Navigation empowers retailers to move beyond "one-size-fits-all" menus. With an intuitive drag-and-drop interface, you can now curate your mobile app’s "Hamburger" menu in real-time—spotlighting high-margin brands, seasonal promotions, or loyalty programs without ever needing a developer or a new app store deployment.

Things to know

  • Custom navigation is disabled by default for all mobile applications.
  • You must build and save your navigation layout before enabling or publishing it to the mobile app.
  • You can nest items within sections up to two levels deep.

Access mobile app navigation

Mobile app navigation menu customization screen

  1. From the Dutchie E-Commerce Admin sidebar, go to Customize.
  2. Select Mobile App Navigation.
  3. Toggle the Enable switch to begin building your custom menu.

Add and manage menu items

You can add four types of individual items to your navigation menu: Links, Collections, Categories, and Brands.

  • Links: Use this to direct customers to external URLs, such as a loyalty signup form or a product blog.
    • Input the URL and a Label (e.g., "Sign up for 420 Club").
    • Select Open in a new tab if you want the link to navigate away from the mobile app.
  • Collections: Select a specific collection and create a Custom label to highlight it, such as "Shop our new products."
  • Categories: Choose a category or subcategory and assign a label like "Try our new pods."
  • Brands: Select a specific brand and add a custom call-to-action, such as "Check out the new brand drop."

Create nested sections

Sections act like folders or file drawers, allowing you to nest multiple items under a single header to keep the menu organized.

  1. Click Add a section.
  2. Enter a name for the section (e.g., "North Cannabis Co. Favorites") and click Add.
  3. Click the arrow next to the section name to open the nested menu.
  4. Add links, brands, or collections specifically for this section.
  5. To create a deeper hierarchy, click Add a section within an existing section.
    • Note: Navigation is limited to a maximum of two nested sections.

Reorder and edit items

  • Reorder: Click and drag items to change their display order within the menu.
  • Edit: Click the pencil icon on any item to update the label, URL, or destination.
  • Delete: Click the trash can icon to remove an item or section from the navigation.
  • Save: Always click Save to apply your changes to the mobile application.
