The Ohio DCC has replaced its previous medical purchase format with a new days-supply model. If you haven't already done so, update your purchase limits in Dutchie.
While Days Supply values are no longer required for limit enforcement, a Days Supply value for each product in your Dutchie Catalog is still required for PMP reporting. Enter 1 in the Days Supply field for all products to ensure PMP reporting is submitted correctly.
New Ohio Medical Purchase Limits
Effective March 24, 2026, the new purchase limits are:
Daily limits
Recreational
- 70.75g Flower AND
- 15g (15,000mg) THC in products (Concentrate / Edible / Liquid Edible etc.)
Medical
- May purchase up to ‘4 days supply’
- 283g Flower AND
- 60g (60,000mg) THC in products (Concentrate / Edible / Liquid Edible etc.)
90-day cycle limits
- New Limits: Update in Settings > Taxes & compliance > Purchase limits.
- 90-Day Cycle: Create an additional 90-day "Cycle" limit to enforce the statewide 90-day supply restriction.
- Flower: 6367.5g per cycle
- All other product types: 1350g THC per cycle
- PMP Reporting: Dutchie will automatically reset all "Days Supply" catalog/inventory fields to "1" on the night of March 23 to ensure BambooHealth compliance.
- Disable ‘Days Supply’ function on Dutchie: Go to Settings > Location and disable the Enforce Days Supply Limit (OH State)’
Dispensing to caregivers and patients
Caregivers who are purchasing on behalf of a medical patient may only purchase up to the normal 1-day supply (70.75g of flower and 15g THC in other product types) which is identical to the recreational limit.
Dutchie does not support separate limits for patients and caregivers. There are two workarounds for handling this in Dutchie POS. Choose one of the following options:
- Option 1: Configure a 4-day limit for medical patients as outlined above. But, because the Dutchie Register enforces the same limit for patients and caregivers, this means it will not enforce the required 1-day limit for caregivers, so in this case it's important to train staff on the new limits and to be extra vigilant to monitor the allotment calculator in the Register to avoid over-dispensing to caregivers.
- Option 2: Configure the lower 1-day limit for medical patients and temporarily override the allotment for direct-to-patient sales beyond the 1-day limit. This is our recommended option because it carries less risk of over-dispensing.
If you choose Option 2, follow these steps to temporarily override a patient's allotment if their order exceeds the 1-day limit but is within the 4-day limit.
- In the patient profile, click the edit icon next to Max Allotment.
- Increase the allotment as needed to accommodate the patient's order.
- By default, this will require a Manager PIN.
- Dutchie Support can disable this manager PIN requirement for allotment overrides, though this carries significant risk as it will allow any register user to override patient allotments.
- Note that the allotment calculator in the cart will show double the allotment you entered because it does not support separate allotment overrides by product type. For example, if you increased the max allotment to 283g, the allotment calculator will interpret this as 283g of both flower AND other product types, or 566g. For this reason, budtenders should click into the Details of the allotment calculator:
And ensure the sale is still within the 4-day limit of 283g of flower and 60g THC in other product types. - After completing the sale, go back to the patient profile and click the trash icon to remove the override and reset the patient's allotment back to the default values.
