Why aren't our customers being enrolled in the loyalty program?

This guide covers loyalty enrollment settings within the Dutchie POS and ecommerce platform. It is intended for dispensary managers and loyalty administrators who need to manage how and when customers are joined to a rewards program.

What is the issue?

Customers are not being added to the loyalty program automatically or are missing the option to join during the checkout process. This impacts the dispensary's ability to track rewards and apply sign-up bonuses for both new and existing customer profiles.

What’s causing the issue?

The issue is typically caused by disabled enrollment settings in the Dutchie Admin or a lack of synchronization between Dutchie and third-party providers like Alpine IQ or Springbig. Enrollment rules, such as auto-enrollment or opt-in requirements, may not be correctly toggled for the specific storefront or register in use.

How do I solve the issue?

Before beginning, ensure you have the necessary administrative permissions to access loyalty and integration settings. If you use a third-party provider, verify that your API credentials are active and that enrollment rules are configured within their specific dashboard first.

  1. Log in to the Dutchie E-Commerce Admin panel.
  2. Navigate to Settings > Loyalty.
  3. If using a third-party integration, navigate to Settings > Integrations > Loyalty.
  4. Locate the Enrollment section and select your preferred method: Automatic, Opt-in, or Manual.
  5. To enable enrollment on your online menu, navigate to Settings > Ordering and toggle Enable Loyalty Enrollment to the on position.
  6. For Dutchie’s built-in loyalty, go to Dutchie POS Backoffice > Loyalty Settings to enable Auto-enrollment and configure any desired Welcome Bonuses.
  7. Click Save to apply the changes.

Note that changes to these settings only apply to new customers moving forward and will not retroactively enroll customers who already have an existing profile.

Alternate possible causes

Incorrect user permissions:The dispensary user may lack Email Marketing permissions in their Permission Group

Third-party loyalty still connected:If Alpine IQ or Springbig integration is still active, Dutchie's native loyalty enrollment may conflict or not display

E-Commerce chain not created:The Enrollment sign-up form tab won't appear unless at least one location is marked active within a chain, and the user has Enterprise Admin permissions

DNS/SendGrid not configured:If email marketing onboarding isn't complete (DNS records, SendGrid integration), marketing-related enrollment touchpoints won't work

Internal setting on the Dutchie side: You may need to contact Dutchie support to ensure all internal settings are configured correctly
