Content Library in Dutchie E-Commerce

This article explains how the Content Library works in Dutchie E-Commerce and is intended for Dispensary Managers, Marketing Directors, and IT Specialists who manage online menu content.

The Content Library is a system within Dutchie E-Commerce that links retail dispensary products to brand-verified content from the Dutchie Product Library (also known as the Dutchie Connect). This content includes professional product images, descriptions, and compliance information supplied directly by brands.

When a product on your menu is connected to the Content Library, brand-verified content takes priority over any images or product information you have manually uploaded or entered. This means consumers browsing your online menu will see the brand's verified content rather than your locally uploaded materials.

For Dispensary Managers and Marketing Directors, the Content Library can streamline menu presentation by surfacing professional, standardized product content. However, it is important to understand how connections are made and how to manage them, because brand content can override your custom content in ways that may not be immediately visible to your team. IT Specialists supporting multi-location operations should also be aware that each store location is managed separately, which means connections and overrides must be reviewed on a per-location basis.

Things to know

  • The Content Library lives within the menu management section of Dutchie E-Commerce, not Dutchie Point of Sale.
  • When a product is connected to the Content Library, brand-verified content (such as product images and descriptions) overrides any content you have manually uploaded or entered for that product. Consumers will see the brand content on your menu.
  • Connections to the Content Library can be made on a per-location basis. If you operate multiple locations, you will need to review and manage Content Library connections at each location separately.
  • Each location is managed independently, so content changes or disconnections you make at one store do not automatically apply to your other locations.

How the Content Library works

The Content Library connects individual products on your Dutchie E-Commerce menu to brand-verified content from the Dutchie Product Library. Once a connection exists, the brand's content takes precedence over any local customizations you have made to that product's listing.

Consumers browsing your online menu will see the brand-supplied images and descriptions for any connected product. If you have uploaded your own product images or written custom descriptions, those will not appear to consumers while a Content Library connection is active.

Content Library connections can be established by the content team as part of brand campaigns. This means a new connection may be made to a product on your menu without your direct action, which can result in your custom content being replaced. This is most likely to occur when a brand runs a campaign that targets products already present on your menu.

Unlinking a product from the Content Library

If you want to restore your own content for a specific product, you can disconnect that product from the Content Library. This removes the brand-verified content override for that item.

  1. In Dutchie E-Commerce Admin, navigate to Menu.
  2. Click into the individual product you want to disconnect.
  3. Click Disconnect to unlink the product from the Content Library.

After disconnecting, your locally uploaded content will appear for that product on your menu.

Troubleshooting

Product images or descriptions changed on my menu and I did not make any updates. What happened?

This is most likely the result of a Content Library connection being made to that product. When a brand runs a campaign for products that exist on your menu, a connection may be established automatically, which causes brand-verified content to override your custom content. To restore your content, follow the steps above to disconnect the product from the Content Library.

My custom product content was replaced by brand content I did not choose. Can I get it back?

Yes. Disconnecting the product from the Content Library will remove the brand content override. You may need to re-upload or re-enter your custom content after disconnecting if it no longer appears.

I disconnected a product from the Content Library, but the brand content came back. Why?

A new Content Library connection may have been established through a subsequent brand campaign. Connections can be re-created each time a campaign runs for brands that exist on your menu. If this is an ongoing issue and you want to prevent your menu from being connected to the Content Library entirely, contact Dutchie Support to discuss your options.

I manage multiple locations and the same issue is appearing across all of them. Do I need to fix each one separately?

Yes. Each location is managed independently within Dutchie E-Commerce, so you will need to disconnect affected products at each location separately.
