New Feature: Pay by Bank Order Journey Prompts

Alpha · Phased Rollout

How customers can switch to Pay by Bank after placing an order — and what changes for you at the POS

This article covers a new Pay by Bank feature that is currently in alpha testing and rolling out to a limited set of stores. As testing expands, more locations will see this experience — if your store doesn't have it yet, you may see it added in a future rollout phase.

This feature is in active testing. Behavior, screens, and timelines described below may change as the rollout continues. Check back here for updates, or reach out to your regional manager if you have questions about whether your store is included in the current phase.

What's Changing

Today, customers who choose Pay by Bank at checkout get a seamless, pre-paid experience at pickup or delivery. But customers who select a different payment method at checkout never get a chance to switch — even though many would prefer to pay ahead if they were reminded.

With this new feature, customers who place an online order without selecting Pay by Bank will now be prompted to pay by bank at multiple points throughout their order journey, using the same emails, texts, and confirmation screens they already receive today.

Where Customers Will See the Prompt

The "Pay by bank now" prompt will appear on the same touchpoints customers already receive for every order — no new communications are being introduced. The button is added to:

  • Order confirmation screen (web and app) immediately after checkout
  • Order placed confirmation email
  • Order confirmed / being prepared email
  • Order status text message updates

What Happens at the POS

If a customer taps "Pay by bank now" and completes payment before their order is finalized, the order will automatically update in the POS to reflect Pay by Bank as the payment method — no manual action is required from you to make this switch.

Once a customer pays this way, the order behaves exactly like any other Pay by Bank order that was selected at checkout from the start. You'll finalize it the same way you already do today — there's no new or different workflow to learn.

What This Means for You

  • You may start seeing orders arrive as Pay by Bank that weren't originally placed that way — this is expected and means the customer paid ahead using the new prompt.
  • No new training is required for finalizing these orders — follow your existing Pay by Bank checkout process.
  • If a customer asks about the "pay by bank now" link they received, you can let them know it's a safe and optional way to pre-pay before their order is ready.
  • If you have questions about whether this feature is active at your store, check with your store manager or regional contact.

Frequently Asked Questions

Do I need to do anything differently when this order arrives?

No. Once a customer pays using this prompt, the order updates automatically and is treated exactly like a standard Pay by Bank order. You'll finalize it the same way.

What if the customer changes their mind after starting the Pay by Bank flow?

If the customer does not complete the Pay by Bank payment, their original payment method at checkout remains in effect and no changes are made to the order.

Is this available at my store?

This feature is in alpha testing and is only live at a limited number of stores during this phase. Check with your store manager or regional contact to confirm whether your location is included.

Will customers get extra texts or emails because of this?

No new communications are being added. The Pay by Bank prompt is included in the same emails and texts customers already receive for every order.
