Washington | CCRS errors at checkout and how to resolve them

This article provides an overview of CCRS validation errors that Washington users may see in the Dutchie Register and how to address those errors and keep sales moving.

"Medical sales for non-DOH approved products must be 37% of net price"

This means that your medical cannabis excise tax rate has an incorrect Rate amount value. To fix this:

  1. In the Backoffice, go to Settings > Taxes & compliance.
  2. Select your medical cannabis excise tax rate. 
  3. Change the Rate amount field to 0.37.

  4. Click Save.
  5. In the Register, clear the cart and re-scan the items. You should then be able to check out successfully.

"Medical sales for non-DOH approved products cannot be 0"

This means that the product identified in the error message either has the wrong DoH Approved setting or is assigned to an incorrect Tax category. To fix this:

If the product is DoH approved or High CBD:

  1. In the Backoffice, go to Products > Catalog.
  2. Select the product identified in the error message.
  3. Make sure the DoH Approved and High CBD dropdowns are correctly set, depending on the product.

  4. Click Save.
  5. In the Register, remove and re-add the product identified in the error message. You should then be able to check out successfully.

If the product is not DoH approved or High CBD:

  1. In the Backoffice, go to Products > Configure > Categories.
  2. Verify that your non-DoH product categories are correctly mapped to your non-DoH cannabis Tax category. Learn more about configuring product categories and tax categories.

  3. Verify that your product categories are mapped to the correct Regulatory category.

  4. Click Save.
  5. Go to Products > Catalog.
  6. Select the product identified in the error message.
  7. Scroll to the Category field and make sure the product is assigned to the correct non-DoH category.

  8. Verify the Tax categories field is either blank or set to a non-DoH tax category.

    By default, a product's tax category is inherited from its product category, in which case this product-level tax category field is blank. However, this field can be used to override the category-level setting.
  9. Click Save.
  10. In the Register, remove and re-add the product identified in the error message. You should then be able to check out successfully.

"Recreational sales must be 37% of net price"

This means that your recreational cannabis excise tax rate has an incorrect Rate amount value, the product identified in the error message has an incorrect product category or tax category, or an applied discount has an incorrect tax setting.

If you applied a discount to the product identified in the error message:

  1. In the Backoffice, go to Marketing > Discounts.
  2. Select the discount you applied.
  3. On step 4, Rewards, in the Additional settings section, make sure Ignore net taxes is set to No.

  4. Click Save.
  5. In the Register, remove and re-add the product identified in the error message, and re-apply the discount. You should then be able to check out successfully.

If you did not apply a discount or the discount was already configured correctly:

  1. In the Backoffice, go to Settings > Taxes & compliance.
  2. Select your recreational cannabis excise tax rate. 
  3. Change the Rate amount field to 0.37.

  4. Click Save.
  5. In the Register, clear the cart and re-scan the items. You should then be able to check out successfully.

If the error persists, check that the product identified in the error message is assigned to the correct product category and tax category.

  1. In the Backoffice, go to Products > Configure > Categories.
  2. Verify that your non-DoH product categories are correctly mapped to your non-DoH cannabis Tax category. Learn more about configuring product categories and tax categories.

  3. Verify that your product categories are mapped to the correct Regulatory category.

  5. Go to Products > Catalog.
  6. Select the product identified in the error message.
  7. Scroll to the Category field and make sure the product is assigned to the correct non-DoH category.
