This article is for people who manage a Dutchie Storefront (a Dutchie E-Commerce Pro menu accessed through a reverse proxy or subdomain) and need to keep it available to shoppers during high-traffic periods.
If your Dutchie E-Commerce Pro menu is set up as a Dutchie Storefront, your Cloudflare Worker sits in front of your menu and routes traffic to it. Cloudflare's free Workers plan caps traffic at 100,000 requests per day. Once a Dutchie Storefront crosses that limit, Cloudflare stops serving requests until the limit resets, which takes your online menu offline for the rest of the day.
Upgrading to the Workers Paid plan ($5 per month, billed by Cloudflare) removes the 100,000-requests-per-day ceiling. Because of this, upgrading to the Workers Paid plan is part of the onboarding requirements for Dutchie Pro and Dutchie Storefront customers. Retailers with steady or growing traffic, multiple locations pointed at the same Worker, or seasonal spikes (420, Black Friday, and similar high-traffic days) are the most likely to hit the free plan's limit and should confirm they are on the paid plan before traffic increases.
Before you begin
- You will need access to the Cloudflare account and billing settings associated with your Dutchie Storefront domain. This is a Cloudflare-side permission, not a Dutchie Backoffice permission.
- The Workers Paid plan is billed per Cloudflare account, separately from any other Cloudflare plan (Free, Pro, or Business) you may already have on that account.
- The Workers Paid plan has a minimum charge of $5 USD per month and includes a substantially higher request allotment than the free plan.
- If your Dutchie Storefront already receives consistent daily traffic, confirm your plan status before a high-traffic event rather than after your menu goes offline.
Why Dutchie Storefront customers need the Workers Paid plan
Cloudflare Workers run on one of two plans:
- Workers Free: limited to 100,000 requests per day, with the limit resetting at midnight UTC.
- Workers Paid: a minimum charge of $5 USD per month, with a substantially higher included request allotment and additional usage billed beyond that.
Because a Worker handles every request to your Dutchie Storefront, a free-plan Worker that reaches its daily ceiling stops serving your menu to shoppers until the limit resets. This is what triggers Error 1027, described below. Upgrading to the Workers Paid plan prevents this outage from recurring.
Understanding Error 1027
What it means: Error 1027 is a Cloudflare error that appears when a Worker has reached its plan's request limit. Visitors see a message stating that the site owner has reached their plan limits and to check back once traffic has gone down.
When it occurs: Error 1027 appears once your Dutchie Storefront's Worker has served 100,000 requests within a single day while on the Workers Free plan.
When it resets: The daily request count resets at midnight UTC. Traffic to your Dutchie Storefront will resume automatically at that time, even without any changes on your part, though the outage will recur the next day if traffic stays high and you remain on the free plan.
How to upgrade to the Workers Paid plan
- Log in to your Cloudflare account.
- Go to the Workers & Pages page in the Cloudflare dashboard.
- Find the Plans section for your account and select the option to subscribe to Workers Paid.
- Confirm your billing details and complete the subscription. The $5 USD per month charge applies at the account level and covers all Workers on that account, not just the one routing your Dutchie Storefront.
- Once the upgrade is confirmed, your Dutchie Storefront's Worker is no longer subject to the 100,000-requests-per-day limit.
Preventing recurrence
Once you upgrade to the Workers Paid plan, Error 1027 should not recur due to daily request volume alone. To avoid a repeat outage:
- Confirm the upgrade is applied to the same Cloudflare account that hosts the Worker for your Dutchie Storefront domain, not a different account you may also manage.
- If you manage multiple Dutchie Storefront domains through the same Cloudflare account, the Workers Paid plan's request allotment is shared across all of them.
Troubleshooting
Q: My Dutchie Storefront is showing Error 1027. What does that mean? A: Your Cloudflare Worker has reached its plan's daily request limit. If you are on the Workers Free plan, this means you have crossed 100,000 requests in a single day. Upgrade to the Workers Paid plan to resolve it.
Q: I already upgraded to the Workers Paid plan, but I'm still seeing Error 1027. What should I check? A: First, confirm the upgrade was applied to the Cloudflare account tied to the domain serving your Dutchie Storefront menu, since accounts with multiple domains or Workers can make this easy to mix up.
Q: How long does Error 1027 last if I don't upgrade? A: On the Workers Free plan, the daily request count resets at midnight UTC, and your Dutchie Storefront will become accessible again at that time. The error will return the next day if daily traffic exceeds 100,000 requests again.
