Import your existing menu assets into the Asset Library in Dutchie E-Commerce

Instead of manually re-uploading images your dispensaries already use, the Asset Library can scan every location's live menu — banners, logos, category images, and more — and import them into the library in one click, automatically organized into a folder per location.

What the import tool does

The import tool adds every image already in use across your enterprise's dispensary menus — image banners, text banner backgrounds, category images, collection headers, and store logos — into your Asset Library. Imported assets are organized automatically into one top-level folder per dispensary location, so you can immediately tell which store an asset came from.

This is the fastest way to populate a brand-new Asset Library without uploading anything manually, and it's safe to run more than once — assets that are already in your library are recognized and skipped rather than duplicated.

Note: Import only pulls in assets that are hosted on Dutchie's storage. Externally hosted images (for example, a banner image linked from a third-party URL) are skipped and counted separately in the results summary.

Start an import

  1. Go to Assets › Library in your Chain Admin.
  2. In the top-right toolbar, click the small square import icon immediately to the left of the + Upload button (labeled Import existing assets when you hover over it).
  3. The import starts immediately — there's no additional configuration or confirmation step.

The import icon (small square button) sits in the top-right toolbar, immediately to the left of + Upload. Click it to start importing your existing menu assets. Tip: Hover over the import icon to see a tooltip summarizing exactly what it will do before you click it.

Track import progress

Once started, a progress banner appears above the asset grid and stays visible until the import finishes:

  • Importing existing assets… 20/30 — shown while the import is running, with a live progress bar tracking how many items have been processed. Once assets start being added, the count of assets added so far appears alongside it.
  • The banner updates in real time as each location's assets are processed — you don't need to keep the page open in the foreground; progress is pushed to your browser as it happens.

While the import is running, a progress banner replaces the top of the asset grid, showing "Importing existing assets… 20/30" with a live progress bar.
Note: Only one import can run per enterprise at a time. If you click the import icon while an import is already in progress (for example, started by a teammate), the button is disabled and the existing import's progress is shown instead of starting a new one.

Understand the import results

When the import finishes, the banner updates to a completion summary, for example:

"Import complete — 0 assets added, 137 duplicates skipped, 2 errors."

Click Dismiss on the banner to clear it. The asset grid and folder list refresh automatically to show the newly imported assets and location folders.

The completion banner shows a summary of assets added, duplicates skipped, and any errors, plus a Dismiss button to clear it.
ResultWhat it means
Assets addedNew assets successfully imported into your library, organized by location folder.
Duplicates skippedImages that matched an asset already in your library — the existing asset was left untouched rather than duplicated.
ErrorsImages that failed to import (for example, a corrupted or unreachable file). These are not retried automatically.
Important: If the import fails outright (for example, due to a network or server error), the banner shows"Asset import failed"with the error message. No partial results are kept — click the import icon again to retry.

How duplicates and re-imports are handled

Just like manual uploads, imported assets are checked against your existing library using content fingerprinting. If an identical file has already been imported or uploaded, the import tool skips it rather than creating a second copy — so it's safe to run Import Existing Assets again later (for example, after a new location goes live, or after your menus have been updated with new images) to pick up anything new.

Troubleshooting

  • Import icon is disabled: An import is already running for your enterprise. Wait for the current import to finish, or check with a teammate who may have started one.
  • Some assets are missing after import: Check the completion summary for skipped or errored counts — externally hosted images are intentionally excluded, and failed files are counted as errors rather than silently dropped.
  • Import banner disappeared before I saw the results: The results aren't lost — reopen the Asset Library and check the relevant location folders, or re-run the import; anything already imported will be correctly reported as a duplicate.
