This article explains the 10DLC registration expiration warnings in Dutchie POS Loyalty & Marketing Pro
If you send SMS or MMS marketing campaigns through Dutchie POS Loyalty & Marketing Pro, your business's 10DLC registration must stay active with The Campaign Registry (TCR). A registration expires after 90 days of inactivity, and Dutchie POS continues to display SMS as an active sending channel even after that happens. Without a warning, you could build and send a campaign that fails to deliver, hurting deliverability and generating charges for undelivered messages.
To prevent this, Dutchie POS displays proactive warnings when a 10DLC registration is approaching expiration or has already gone inactive.
These warnings appear in several places, and the action they prompt you to take depends on which state your registration is in. Any admin will view the warning on the Dutchie Backoffice home page, since it surfaces every time someone logs in, regardless of whether they were about to send a campaign.
Before you begin
- The Loyalty & Marketing module must be fully set up and running before SMS features are available on your account. SMS campaigns cannot be activated or used until this module is configured.
- A 10DLC registration expires after 90 days of inactivity. Sending an SMS campaign resets this inactivity window, so sending a campaign is one way to keep an "expiring soon" registration active.
- If your account has multiple SMS brands (for example, across different states or markets), each one has its own 10DLC registration and expiration status. It's possible for some brands to show as expiring soon or expired while others remain active.
- If your 10DLC registration is inactive or expired, Dutchie POS still shows SMS as an active channel in the campaign builder. This means a campaign can go out anyway, resulting in a low deliverability rate and charges for messages that fail to deliver.
What the warning means
Dutchie POS displays two related warnings tied to your 10DLC registration status, and each one calls for a different action:
-
Expiring soon: your 10DLC registration is within a 45-day window of expiring due to inactivity. The warning tells you that to keep SMS delivery active, you need to send a campaign before the registration lapses.
-
Expired: your 10DLC registration has already gone inactive. Instead of prompting you to send a campaign, the warning directs you to contact Dutchie Support.
If you have multiple SMS brands, the warning can list each one along with its individual expiring soon or expired status. When a brand has both types of alerts to show across multiple registrations, Dutchie POS prioritizes showing the expired status first, since it requires the most immediate action and has the greatest impact on your campaigns.
Where the warning appears
You will see one of these warnings in the following places:
- Home page: shown every time you log in to Dutchie Backoffice, so this warning is easy to miss only if you skip your home page entirely. If you have multiple brands, you can expand this warning to see the expiration status for each one.
- Campaigns list page: shown at the top of your Campaigns list. This version doesn't include a direct call-to-action button, since you can already create a campaign from that page.
- Campaign builder: shown while you're building a campaign, including while configuring SMS-specific settings. This version also doesn't include a separate call-to-action, since you're already in the place you'd need to act.
- SMS Integrations page: this page shows a list view with an Expiration Date column for each SMS brand, so you can check registration status for all your brands at any time without waiting for a warning to appear elsewhere.
What to do when you see the warning
The action Dutchie POS recommends depends on which warning you see.
If your registration is expiring soon
- Note the expiration date shown in the warning or in the Expiration Date column on the SMS Integrations page.
- From the home page or Campaigns list, use the warning's call-to-action to open the campaign builder, or navigate there directly.
- Send an SMS campaign before the expiration date to reset your 90-day inactivity window and keep the registration active.
If your registration has already expired
- Use the Contact support action shown in the warning.
- Work with Dutchie Support to re-register your 10DLC number.
- Confirm the warning clears and the Expiration Date column on the SMS Integrations page reflects your new registration date.
