Assign a specific Order Terminal to each configured kiosk in your store
You can assign a specific Order Terminal to each configured kiosk in your store. When a kiosk has an assigned terminal, orders placed at that kiosk route automatically to the designated terminal, and the customer no longer has to select a terminal during checkout.
This is useful for multi-floor or high-volume dispensaries. For example, orders from a kiosk on one floor can route directly to the fulfillment terminal on that same floor, reducing the chance that staff prepare an order in the wrong area and speeding up checkout during busy periods.
The routing decision is resolved on the server based on the kiosk's identity, so it cannot be changed by tampering with the order request from the customer's device.
Before you begin
- This feature builds on kiosk origin identification, so each kiosk must already be named and use its own unique kiosk URL before you can assign it a terminal.
- If a kiosk is not assigned a terminal, it keeps its current behavior, which may mean prompting the customer to pick a terminal or falling back to a default printer.
Assign an order terminal to a kiosk
- In Dutchie E-Commerce admin, go to Settings > Ordering > Kiosk.
- In the Manage Kiosks section, find the kiosk you want to configure.
- Use the assignment dropdown to select an existing Order Terminal for that kiosk.
- Repeat for any additional kiosks you want to configure.
- Save your changes.
Once assigned, kiosk checkout skips the terminal picker screen for that kiosk, and orders route directly to the configured terminal.
How order routing works
When a customer submits an order at an assigned kiosk, the system captures the kiosk's ID from its URL and includes it with the order. On the server, Dutchie resolves the kiosk name and its assigned order terminal from that kiosk ID rather than trusting the terminal selection sent from the device. This means the routing reflects your official configuration even if the order request is altered on the way to the server.
Unassigned kiosks are not affected. They continue to use the existing directed-orders and default-printer fallback behavior.
Troubleshooting
Q: A kiosk's orders still prompt the customer to pick a terminal. A: Confirm the kiosk has an Order Terminal selected in Manage Kiosks. Unassigned kiosks keep the existing terminal picker behavior.
Q: Orders are landing on the wrong terminal after assigning one. A: Confirm the kiosk is using its own unique kiosk URL rather than a shared or generic kiosk link, since routing depends on the server correctly identifying which kiosk the order came from.
