Export data and conduct bulk edits in Connect Catalog

This article walks through two related workflows: exporting data from Connect Catalog, and using that export to make bulk edits and re-import your changes.

Export data from Connect Catalog

1. Apply filters

Before exporting, narrow the dataset down to what you actually need using the available filters (category, brand, date range, etc.). The export will only include whatever matches your current filters, so double-check them before moving on.

2. Click Export

Once your filters are set, click Export.

Important: Clicking Export does not generate the file right away. Exports run asynchronously, meaning your request goes into a processing queue instead of running instantly. When you click Export, you'll see a status of Queued. That means the request has been received and is waiting its turn — not that anything has gone wrong. Don't click Export again just because nothing downloaded immediately.

3. Go to Export History

Navigate to Export History to track your request. This is where every export you've kicked off lives, along with its current status.

4. Confirm the status is "Completed"

Find your export in the list (usually the most recent one at the top) and check its status:

Status What it means
Queued Request received, not yet started
Processing File is actively being generated
Completed File is ready — safe to download
Failed Something went wrong — you'll likely need to re-run the export

Do not attempt to download until the status reads Completed. Trying to download while it's still Queued or Processing won't give you a usable file.

5. Download the file

Once the status shows Completed, click the download link/button next to that export in the history list.

Notes

  • Processing time depends on the size of your filtered dataset — a small, heavily-filtered export will complete faster than a full, unfiltered one.
  • If the status seems stuck, refresh the Export History page before assuming something's wrong.
  • If an export shows Failed, re-apply your filters and try exporting again rather than trying to download the failed entry.

Conducting bulk edits

1. Open the exported file

Using the file you downloaded open it in your spreadsheet editor of choice and make your edits directly in the file.

2. Do not edit the Dutchie ID column

Every row in the export includes a unique Dutchie ID. Do not edit or remove these values. The Dutchie ID is what ties each row back to the correct product in Connect Catalog; if it's changed or missing, your edits won't map correctly on re-import.

3. Make your edits

Update whatever fields you need to change (pricing, descriptions, categories, etc.), working row by row as needed. Leave any columns you don't intend to change as-is.

4. Save the file

Save your changes as a CSV file, as this is the only format the import will accept. Avoid changing the file structure; don't add, remove, or reorder columns, since the import process expects the file to match the original export layout.

5. Re-import the file

Once all edits are made, re-import the file. Every change will be applied to the corresponding products, matched by Dutchie ID.

Notes

  • If you're unsure whether a bulk edit was applied correctly, spot-check a few updated products in Connect Catalog after the import completes.
