Relevant products give customers a reason to open, explore, and shop from marketing messages. Personalized recommendations can help customers discover products that fit their interests and make each message more useful than a one-size-fits-all promotion.
With Product Feeds, marketers choose a recommendation strategy and optional product filters, then add the feed to a campaign email or SMS landing page. When a campaign is sent, Dutchie automatically selects products for each customer based on the feed’s strategy and, when available, a customer’s purchase history. Marketers can highlight popular items or new arrivals, recommend products based on customer preferences, or help customers find products they have bought before. The cards in the editor are samples; the products customers see can differ by recipient.
Requirements
Access and permissions
Marketers with permission to view campaigns or access email marketing can view feeds; those with Create/Edit Campaigns permission can create and change them. Read-only users cannot make changes. If the Product Feeds tab is unavailable, a store administrator or Dutchie Support can check access and feature availability.
The store also needs eligible, in-stock products. Most recommendation strategies use products listed on its online menu. Marketers create a feed before selecting it in the campaign editor.
View and manage Product Feeds
Go to Marketing > Configure > Product Feeds. The list shows each feed’s name, recommendation strategy, product count, creator, and dates. Search for a feed, select its name to edit it, or select Create product feed to add one.
Create a Product Feed
- From the Product Feeds tab, select Create product feed.
- Enter a feed name (up to 50 characters) and an optional description.
- Select a recommendation strategy and choose 1 to 5 products.
- Complete any product filters available for that strategy.
- Select Save. The feed becomes available in the campaign editor.
Choose a recommendation strategy
| Strategy | What it does |
|---|---|
| Buy it again | Uses a customer’s past purchases. This strategy does not offer product filters. |
| Popular items | Starts with popular products and supports product filters. |
| New arrivals | Starts with recently listed products and supports product filters. |
| Recommended for you | Uses customer preferences for brand, category, or strain and supports product filters. |
For strategies with filters, marketers can choose brands, product categories, strains, minimum quantity, and a price range. They can also exclude products the customer already purchased or include non-cannabis products. Available controls depend on the strategy.
Add a Product Feed to an email or SMS landing page
- Open the email or SMS landing-page content for the campaign in the editor.
- Drag the Product feed block into the content.
- Select a feed in Select Product Feed. To create a new feed, select Create a product feed to open its setup page in a new tab.
- Select Insert, then review the layout. To switch feeds later, edit the existing block and select Update.
For SMS campaigns, the text message links to the landing page where the product cards appear. The cards are not embedded in the text message.
A template can contain one Product feed block. To use another feed, change or remove the existing block.
Understand the preview
The editor shows sample products so marketers can check the card layout on desktop and mobile. These are not the products each customer will see in a sent email or SMS landing page. The cards can show a product image, name, price, brand, weight, and available potency details.
Where product information comes from
Product Feeds combine data from Dutchie POS and the store’s Dutchie E-Commerce menu. When the campaign is sent, the selected strategy uses POS inventory and, where relevant, customer purchase history or preferences to choose products. Most strategies select in-stock products marked for online sale; Buy it again starts with in-stock products from the customer’s past purchases. If too few products match, other available popular products can fill the remaining spaces. The editor’s sample cards do not show the actual products or prices selected for each customer.
| On the product card | Source and fallback |
|---|---|
| Name | For most feeds, the POS inventory Online Title; if that field is not set, the POS product name. For Buy it again, the name saved with the customer’s purchase. |
| Brand | The E-Commerce listing’s brand name when the product is matched to the online menu; otherwise, the POS inventory brand name. |
| Image | The primary image from the POS product record, not the E-Commerce listing. If no POS image is available, the card shows an image-unavailable placeholder. |
| Price | The matched E-Commerce product option’s recreational pickup online-menu special price when present; otherwise, its regular online-menu price. If no matched E-Commerce price exists, the feed uses the POS recreational unit price, then the POS unit price. This is not a medical or delivery-specific price. |
| Weight | The E-Commerce option’s display weight when available. Otherwise, a weight in grams from the matching E-Commerce option or eligible POS weight. Non-weighted products or products without a valid weight may show no weight. |
| THC | The E-Commerce product’s THC value and unit when available; otherwise, the POS inventory THC result and unit. A badge appears only for a positive value. |
| CBD | The E-Commerce product’s CBD value and unit when available; otherwise, the POS product record’s CBD content and unit. A badge appears only for a positive value. |
| Total terpenes | The E-Commerce product’s total terpene value and unit when available; otherwise, the POS inventory’s total terpenes and unit. A badge appears only for a positive value and is hidden when the store’s E-Commerce Hide total terpenes setting applies. |
| Product link | Dutchie uses the customer’s last-purchase location, or the location where the customer record was created if there is no last purchase. A matched E-Commerce product links to its product detail page at that store. If no product-page link is available, the card links to that store’s online page; if the store has no mapped online page, it uses the configured default store URL. |
Prices and availability are subject to change. Product cards use a prepared data snapshot, not a live checkout quote. The displayed price is not a final cart total and does not include checkout-specific taxes or adjustments.
Frequently asked questions
Why does the editor show sample products?
The editor uses sample cards to show the layout. When the campaign is sent, Dutchie automatically selects products using the feed’s strategy and available data.
How many products can a feed show?
Marketers can configure a feed for one to five products. The products shown can vary by customer and availability.
Can a template include more than one Product Feed?
No. An email or SMS landing-page template supports one Product feed block. Edit or remove it before using another feed.
Can Product Feeds be used in SMS campaigns?
Yes. Add a Product feed block to the SMS landing-page content. Customers receive a text with a link to the page; they see the personalized product cards on that page, not in the text message.
Why do the available filters change?
Each strategy has different options. For example, Buy it again uses purchase history and does not offer product filters.
Why is the Product Feeds tab not visible?
The feature might not be available for the account, or the marketer might not have the required permissions. A store administrator or Dutchie Support can check access.
