This article shows you how to apply, modify, and remove discounts in the Register. Discounts are configured in the Backoffice and may apply automatically to products or combinations of products that meet certain criteria, or they may be applied manually or by entering a code.

Apply manual discounts

You can apply manual discounts to one or more items in a cart

To apply a manual discount:

  1. Add an item to a cart.
  2. Click the ellipsis (...) next to the item’s price and choose Apply discount.

  3. Click on a discount from the list of Available Discounts.

    If the discount you’re looking for isn’t shown, check the discount’s settings and restrictions in the Backoffice. The discount may not be applicable to the item(s) you’ve added, available at the current day or time, or may require loyalty points that the customer doesn’t have.

  4. The discount’s default settings are shown under Selected Discount, but you can make changes before applying the discount:
     
    Apply to

    Choose from the following, using a $1 discount as an example:

    • Each Item in Row - if there are 2 or more units of the same product, take $1 off each unit.
    • Just One Item - take $1 off one unit of the selected product.
    • Distributed Among Every Item - take $1 off the cart subtotal and allocate the discount proportionally.
    • Every Item in Cart - take $1 off every item.

    Or for percentage discounts, choose from:

    • Each Item in Row - if there are 2 or more units of the same product, take a percentage off each unit.
    • Just One Item - take a percentage off one unit of the selected product.
    • Apply to subtotal - take a percentage off the cart subtotal.
    Discount Amount Enter a dollar amount. Can’t be combined with Discount Percent Off.
    Discount Percent Off Enter a percentage to reduce the price by. Can’t be combined with Discount Amount.
    Name (Notes) Open text field for recording details about the discount. This appears on customer receipts and certain reports including the Discount Detail Report. Entries in this field are limited to 100 characters.
  5. If required, enter a Manager PIN.
  6. Click Apply Discount.

  7. Click the X in the upper left to return to the cart.

Apply discounts by entering a code

By-code discounts apply to every qualifying item in the cart.

To enter a discount code:

  1. Add items to a cart.
  2. Click the ellipsis (...) button in cart header and choose Discounts.

  3. Click the Enter discount code field and type or scan the discount code.
  4. Click Apply. The discount and applicable products are noted in the Cart and under Manage Discounts.

Discounts by code can also be applied automatically if a customer enters a coupon code on Dutchie Ecommerce that matches a discount code in your integrated Dutchie POS location. Redemption limits configured in Dutchie POS will also be enforced on Dutchie Ecommerce. Please note the Dutchie Ecommerce coupon and corresponding Dutchie POS discount must be configured separately and the codes must be an exact match.

Automatic discounts

Some discounts are set up to automatically apply when you add a qualifying item or combination of items to a cart. These discounts appear under each discounted item, just like manual and by-code discounts.

You can review all applied discounts by clicking the Discounts button.

Remove discounts

To remove a discount, click the trash icon next to the discount in either the Cart or Manage Discounts section.
