Learn how to add and configure registers in Dutchie POS.
Things to consider
- A register can be either a point-of-sale station in your store or a delivery vehicle.
- Please reach out to Support or your Customer Success Manager to enable additional features that may be needed to support your location’s workflows. Optional features include, but are not limited to:
- Requiring a manager PIN for certain actions such as closeouts, adjusting patient allotments, editing carts, or adjusting loyalty points.
- Requiring non-managers to scan items to add them to a cart, or granting them the ability to search and add products manually.
- Assigning registers to physical hardware devices so that non-managers can only log in to a certain register from a certain device, or allowing non-managers to access any register from any device.
- Remote and fulfillment printers should be set up and synced in PrintNode before setting up new registers. This is not necessary for WebUSB printers.
- You can assign a label printer from Settings > Account.
Add a register at your location
- Go to Settings > Devices.
- On the Registers tab, click the Add register button
- Fill out the settings.
- Click the Add button.
When you launch a new register for the first time, the cash balance is zero. Enter your initial starting cash as a deposit.
When you close out a new register for the first time, be sure to enter the amount you're leaving in the drawer for the next shift in the New Balance field. This will be recorded as the Starting cash amount for the next shift.
Remove a register
Once created, registers cannot be deleted. If a register is no longer used, you can hide it instead:
- Go to Settings > Devices.
- On the Registers tab, select the register you want to hide.
- Set Hide from POS to Yes. The register will no longer appear in the dropdown selection when a user launches the register application.
Add a delivery vehicle as a register
- Go to Delivery > Configure > Cars, and click the Add Car button.
- Add the vehicle information.
- Enable mobile checkout and click the Add button.
- Return to Devices > Register to view or modify the settings for this vehicle as a register.
View or modify register settings
- Go to Settings > Devices.
- On the Registers tab, select the register you want to view or modify.
- View or update the settings.
- Click Save.
Register settings
Register name | Required. Be specific when naming the register. |
Linked rooms |
Optional: By default, registers can "see" and sell any inventory in a room that is marked as sales floor and inventory room. If you want this register to also be able to access another room, select it here. This is generally used for dynamic delivery, where each delivery vehicle has a designed room and register with limited inventory. |
Show notes on POS | Shows notes when launching the POS. |
Printing settings
The following printing settings are defaults for the selected register. Users can temporarily override the defaults in the register's hardware settings for their current session. Once they log out of the register, the settings will be reverted to the Backoffice selection.
Auto print labels | Print labels automatically. |
Label printer | Assign a PrintNode label printer to the register. If using a WebUSB label printer, leave this blank and select the printer in the register hardware settings. |
Auto print receipts | Print receipts automatically. |
Receipt printer | Assign a PrintNode receipt printer to the register. If using a WebUSB receipt printer, leave this blank and select the printer in the register hardware settings. |
Auto print fulfillment ticket | Print fulfillment tickets automatically. |
Fulfillment printer | Assign a receipt printer to print fulfillment tickets. If using a WebUSB fulfillment printer, leave this blank and select the printer in the register hardware settings. |
Default label | Choose a default label template for this register. |
Other settings
Allow delivery receipts | Enables manual receipt printing buttons in the cart view. |
Hide from POS |
If set to yes, the register no longer appears in the dropdown selection when a user launches the register application. Registers can't be deleted. Use this to hide registers that are no longer in use. |
Linked rooms inventory only | If set to yes, sales floor inventory won’t be visible when using this register. |
Cash threshold | If set to yes, the register shows an alert when the cash drawer balance reaches this threshold so users know it's time to drop cash. Enter a whole dollar amount (no cents). |
Restrict to scale weighing | If set to yes, users can't directly enter or edit bulk flower weights on this register but can still enter a weight override (if enabled). This is intended for use with a connected scale only. |
