Manage label designs and images in Dutchie POS

This article provides an overview of creating and editing templates for labels that you can print from the Dutchie Backoffice and the Dutchie Register.

Coming soon: New Label Designer

Our updated label designer gives inventory specialists and dispensary managers a more flexible, visual way to build and configure product labels with an improved layout and a set of tools that make it faster to place, align, and format label fields.

Label details and field configuration are separated into two distinct sections, giving you more screen space to arrange fields and preview your label as you work. You can resize labels, drag fields into position with grid snapping, bulk-select and edit multiple fields at once, and undo or redo changes at any point.

The new designer is rolling out in beta. During the beta period, you can opt in to try it and switch back to the existing label editor at any time. Once the beta concludes, all locations will be upgraded to the new designer automatically.

Things to know

  • The new label designer supports various keyboard Shortcuts. A guide to available shortcuts is provided in the label preview.

  • When resizing labels, be careful not to make the label width smaller than the total width of its elements.

Opt in to the new label designer

During the beta period, you need to opt in before you can access the new designer.

  1. Go to Settings > Labels.
  2. On the Labels tab, click the Opt into the new label designer toggle.opt into new label designer.png

Set label dimensions

When you open a label in the new designer, all fields are pre-populated with default values. You can adjust the label size before adding or arranging fields.

  1. Drag the anchor points on the label preview to resize it visually, or enter specific values in the Width and Height fields.

  2. The designer snaps to half-inch increments by default. To enter a custom size that falls outside those increments, type the value directly into the Width or Height field. Or, you can disable snapping temporarily by holding the Ctrl key.

Add and arrange fields

  1. Click the fields menu and then Add field to open the field selector.

  2. Choose the field you want to add, for example Batch Name, Package ID, or Serial Number, then save the field.
  3. Drag the field to your preferred position on the label preview. Grid snapping is on by default and will help align fields automatically, but you can disable snapping temporarily by holding the Ctrl key while clicking and dragging.
  4. To resize a field, drag its anchor points, or enter values in the Width, Height, X, or Y inputs.
  5. To adjust field rotation, use the rotation control.
  6. Repeat for each additional field.

To search for a specific field, use the search bar above the field list. Hovering over a field in the list highlights it in the label preview.

To delete a field, click it in the field list and press the Delete key on your keyboard. You can undo a deletion with Ctrl+Z.

Bulk-select and edit multiple fields

You can select multiple fields at once to reposition or reformat them together.

  1. Click and drag to draw a selection around the fields you want to edit.
  2. To move the selected fields, drag them to a new position on the label.
  3. To edit a shared property such as font size, X coordinate, or Y coordinate, update the value in the corresponding input. The change will apply to all selected fields.

For example, to align two fields to the same horizontal row, select both fields and enter the same value in the Y field.

Save your label

When you are done arranging fields, click Save label to save your changes.
