Overview of offers, conditions, and rewards

With offers, you can set up specific conditions your customers must meet before they can receive a reward.

Conditions are the item(s) that a customer needs to put in their cart before they can be eligible for a reward.

Rewards are the item(s) that the customer will receive a discount on. The reward is shown to the customer when they've added both the condition item(s) and the reward item(s) to their cart.

Example: If a customer buys one 1/8th of Fairy Dust Flower they receive the second 1/8th of Celestial Kush flower for 50% off. In this case, the Fairy Dust Flower is the condition item, and the Celestial Kush is the reward.

Create an Offer

Go to your Dutchie Ecommerce Admin page, and click on the Promote tab on the left-hand side of the page, then click Create a Special.

Redemption Limit

The Redemption Limit is the number of times a customer can redeem a special on a single order. A key thing to remember when creating Offers is that there is no maximum for Redemption Limit, meaning the discount will apply repeatedly as long as the items in the cart qualify.

Example

  • Buy 1 Rainbow Bliss chocolate bar, Get 1 Rainbow Bliss chocolate bar 50% off (customer has 4 Rainbow Bliss chocolate bars in their cart)
    • If Redemption Limit = 1, then the customer gets 3 bars at full price and 1 at 50% off
    • If Redemption Limit = 2 or more, then the customer gets 2 bars at full price and 2 at 50% off

Menu Design

With Offers, you can control how Specials are displayed on your menu in a new section called Menu Design. Here you will be able to enter a Display Name, Description (optional), and an Image. The default design will include a sample image that you can either keep or replace with a specific image to match the brand or product. The preview on the right side will update live with changes, so you will be able to see how the special will be displayed on the Individual Specials Page, the Menu Home Page, and the Specials Home Page.

Conditions

Set the Conditions that need to be met for the consumer to receive a reward. You'll be able to make Offers for medical menus, recreational menus, or both. Select Add Condition to specify your Offer's conditions based on:

  • Individual items
  • Items from a Brand
  • Items from a Category
  • Total Weight
  • Total Quantity
  • Total Spend

Individual Items

When you select Individual Items, a search window appears and allows you to add one or more individual items.

Items from a Brand

Selecting Items from a Brand will prompt you with the same search drop-down as the other options, but this time it will be filled with brands that you have on your menu. This option will allow you to choose how much of a particular brand the customer will need to add to their cart to receive the reward you've set. If the brand offers multiple different product categories, such as flower and edibles, you'll be able to specify a category within that brand for the conditions.

Note: After choosing Individual items, Items from a Category, or Items from a Brand and adding some criteria, you’d need to remove those products with the 'X' icon before you could switch to a different option.

Items from a Category

When you select Items from a category, a pop-up window shows your menu's categories and subcategories. When you select a weight-based category, like Flower, you'll have the option to select how much Flower they'll need to put in their cart before they can receive the reward you've set. If you choose a category that isn't weight-specific, such as Accessories, you'll just be prompted to select quantity rather than weight.

Total Weight

This condition allows you to specify a total (cumulative) weight that the customer must purchase to earn the corresponding reward. This condition will work with any weight-based product and can also be used alone or in combination with one or more Product Conditions.

Conditions_rework_-_conditions_added__2_.png__2880_3288__2021-02-08_at_8.59.15_PM.jpg

Example #1

Buy at least 1/2 oz of flower from brands A, B, or C, and earn a Reward

Example #2

Customer purchases:

Rainbow Bliss or Mystical Mellow or Starlit Strain

and

Total Weight = 28g

Example cart to qualify for offer:

  • 14g of Rainbow Bliss, 7g of Mystical Mellow, 7g of Starlit Strain (different items can be any weight to total 28g)

Important Notes on Total Weight Condition

If Total Weight is used alone, it will apply to all weighted products on the menu. Think of this as an easy way to “Select All”

If Total Weight is with a Product Condition:

  • It will apply only to those products listed in the Product Condition
  • It will always be included with an AND operator
  • It will cause the Quantity and Weight inputs for each Product Condition to be hidden and any inputs to be cleared, which will have the following effects:
    • Weight input for any Product Condition gets automatically set to ‘Any Weight’
    • Quantity input for any Product Condition gets ignored as the Total Quantity Condition overrides it

Total Quantity

Use this condition to set a 'Total Quantity' that a customer must purchase from amongst the items included in the Conditions section. Remember that you will not be required to specify a quantity per item - but rather a total quantity.

Conditions_rework_-_conditions_added__1_.png__2880_3288__2021-02-08_at_9.12.42_PM.jpg

Example #1

  • Buy any two products, get a third 50% off
  • Buy any two of these four edibles, and get a third for $0.01

Example #2

Customer purchases:

Mystic Meadow Gummies or Starlight Bliss Gummies or Celestial Sparkle Gummies

and

Total Quantity = 3

Example carts to qualify for offer:

  • 1 Mystic Meadow Gummies, 2 Starlight Bliss Gummies
  • 1 Mystic Meadow Gummies, 1 Starlight Bliss Gummies, 1 Celestial Sparkle Gummies

Important Note on Total Quantity Condition

If Total Quantity is used alone, it will apply to all weighted products on the menu

Example: Buy ANY 2 products, get a Reward

Total Spend

Enter the total dollar amount they must spend to qualify for your offer.

This condition will work with any product on you online menu, regardless of being included in a promotion or not.

Example 1

Spend $250 and get $75 off your cart.

Important note for Example 3 Minimum Spend Condition: Under the Condition tab, when building out your Offer, you must first select the Condition: Total Spend and set the total amount the customer must spend. Then, add any condition, such as "Items from a brand" or "Items from a Category," and design your conditions to the desired endpoint.

When moving on to rewards, you must select one of the following choices:

  • Individual Items
  • Items from a brand
  • Items from a category

Once your conditions and rewards have been configured, your reward will apply once the customer spends the allotted amount of minimum spend condition + the selected items that apply towards the amount needed to be spent.

'AND' Rules

When you add multiple items as conditions while creating Offers, our default rules are AND, meaning that the customer would have to add all of the condition items to be eligible for the reward you've set.

For example, the user would have to add 1/8th of Gorilla Glue flower AND 1/8th of Sour Diesel to be eligible to receive the designated reward in the Offer.

'OR' Rules

If you have multiple condition items added, you can change this to OR instead of AND rules by clicking AND and toggling the drop-down menu that appears. When you choose the OR option for multiple items, it ensures that the Offer conditions will be met if the user has any of the condition items added to their cart.

For example, the user could add 1/8th of Mystical Mellow flower OR 1/8th of Celestial Kush flower OR 1/8th of Fantasia flower to receive the designated reward in the Offer.

AND vs. OR when creating discounts

When setting conditions for discounts, users sometimes confuse the And and Or conditions.

AND Condition (All Criteria Must Be Met)

You must meet every condition in this rule for the discount to apply.

It is used when multiple conditions need to be true at the same time.

Example:

Discount: Buy 2 specific Vape Carts AND spend at least $50 to get 10% off
In this case, a customer must:

  • Add at least 2 Vape Carts to their cart AND
  • Spend at least $50 total
If either condition isn’t met, the discount won’t apply.

OR Condition (Any One Condition Can Be Met)

The discount applies if at least one of the conditions is met.

This is useful for offering multiple ways to qualify for a discount.

Example:

Discount: Get 10% off if you buy either 2 Vape Carts OR spend at least $50
A customer can qualify if they:

  • Add 2 Vape Carts OR
  • Spend at least $50 total
Only one condition needs to be met for the discount to apply.

Rewards

Now that you've added your Conditions, it's time to add your Rewards! Select Add Reward and search for the menu item(s) that you'd like to have as the discounted reward for the customer. You can add one or more rewards that the customer will receive. It's important to remember that these rewards will only be given to the customer if they have both the condition and reward items in their cart.

Settings

If you selected Show Stacking in your specials settings, you can configure stacking settings for individual offers.

Confirmation

Now it's time to review the Offer you've created in the Confirmation step! Take a minute to read through the Conditions and Rewards sections to ensure everything appears correct. Once everything looks good, click Confirm. If you want to walk through the customer experience for the Offer you've set up, we recommend clicking Preview Store (in the top right corner of the page) after you've confirmed your Offer.

Customer Experience

Admin users have the option to add an Offers carousel to their Menu Home Page, by enabling it under Settings > Customize > Homepage > Add Sections > "Offers". This will add a Home Page section with all active Offers.

Offers are displayed to the customer as they are shopping and adding the items that fit the conditions set in the Offers to their cart. We notify them that they’ve received a discount in the bubble that appears in the upper right corner after they add an item to the cart.

Cart

Once a consumer has added the item(s) that match your conditions to their cart and adds the reward item(s) they'll see a notification in the top right corner letting them how much money they're saving.

When consumers click into their cart while shopping, they’ll be able to see any discounts they’ve been awarded as well.

Checkout Page

Last but not least, once consumers reach the checkout page, they’ll be able to view what discounts they are receiving.
