New Jersey operators who have migrated to Metrc may begin using the Metrc package ID as their “unique stamp or tag” instead of the NJ UID.
However, please note that you cannot scan both NJ UID barcodes and Metrc package ID barcodes in the Dutchie Register at the same time. Contact us when you are ready to disable NJ UIDs, which will allow you to scan Metrc package ID barcodes.
This change is per-location, and the timing and phases of the transition are up to you. For instance:
Example 1: Re-label existing inventory and transition all at once
- Re-label all of your inventory so the barcode scans to the Metrc package ID.
- Contact your CSM or Support to have them disable NJ UIDs.
- When receiving new inventory in Dutchie POS, populate the Package ID field with the Metrc package ID. If the inventory being received in is labeled with the NJ UID, you will need to relabel the inventory with a Metrc package ID barcode.
Example 2: Sell through existing inventory with NJ UID while labeling new inventory with the Metrc package ID
- Contact your CSM or Support to have them disable the NJ UID setting.
- Keep your existing inventory labeled with the NJ UID while you sell through it. Inventory labeled with the NJ UID must be manually searched on the register and cannot be scanned.
- Begin labeling all new inventory with Metrc package ID barcodes.
- When receiving new inventory in Dutchie POS, populate the Package ID field with the Metrc package ID. Inventory labeled with the Metrc package ID can be scanned.
Example 3: Keep existing inventory labeled with the NJ UID until you have sufficient Metrc-barcoded inventory to make the switch
- When receiving new inventory in Dutchie POS, populate the Package ID field with the Metrc package ID.
- Prior to disabling NJ UIDs, inventory with Metrc barcodes must be manually searched at the register.
- Keep scanning the NJ UID at the register until you have sufficient Metrc-barcoded inventory to justify disabling NJ UIDs.
- Any inventory that is labeled with the NJ UID must be manually searched once NJ UIDs are disabled.
Example 4: Begin labeling inventory with both the NJ UID and Metrc barcode and transition when a sufficient number of products contain both barcodes
- Begin labeling all new inventory with both the NJ UID barcode and Metrc package ID barcode.
- Continue to scan the NJ UID barcode. Once you have sufficient inventory labeled with both barcodes, contact your CSM or Support to have them disable the NJ UID setting.
- Continue labeling all inventory with Metrc package ID barcodes.
- When receiving new inventory in Dutchie POS, populate the Package ID field with the Metrc package ID. Inventory labeled with the Metrc package ID can be scanned.
