Add products to the Connect Catalog in bulk

Learn how to add products individually or use the Import function to add products in bulk, by uploading a CSV, to add multiple products at one time.

Things to know

  • When conducting bulk imports, you'll be able to confirm which brand you're adding new products for.
    • Each CSV upload supports one brand at a time. If you manage multiple brands, upload a separate spreadsheet for each.

  • You must use the Dutchie Connect Template, or you will encounter errors.
  • Our template has data validation built in, so you can select the appropriate values to easily fill in your product information. Once the completed template is converted to a CSV, all spelling and capitalization must match what is provided in the template to avoid upload errors.
  • This tool should only be used to add new products, and will not check for potential duplicates or edit existing products.
  • To modify existing products in bulk, first export the products from the Catalog to capture each product's unique ID. This allows the system to map updates back to the correct product without creating duplicates. See the "Edit products in bulk" section of Manage Products in Dutchie Connect.

Add a single product from the Products page

Note: Each SKU should have a separate product record for every market where it's sold. For example, if you sell the same strawberry edible SKU in 10 states, create 10 catalog records — one for each state.

  • Click the Add Product button located at the top of the Products table.
  • Fill out the fields in the Add Library Item form. A preview of how your product will display on Dutchie dispensary menus will appear in the sidebar.
  • Click Save.
  • Navigate back to the Products page to see the new item in the table. You may need to refresh your browser.

Dutchie Connect Catalog template

We've prepared a comprehensive catalog template which includes data validation in the rows and columns. The data validation helps avoid errors, such as entering a subcategory that our system does not recognize.

Connect Portal Catalog template: column guide

This guide explains how to fill out the product catalog spreadsheet. The file contains separate tabs for each product type: Flower, Pre-Rolls, Concentrate, Edible, Topicals, Tincture, CBD, Seeds, Accessories, and Apparel. Most columns function identically across all tabs.

  • Dropdown columns: require selecting an option from a predefined list.
  • Free-text columns: allow custom text input.

Prepare your template for bulk upload to Dutchie Connect

You'll need to prepare the template with product information before uploading it.

Tip: Each product SKU should have a separate product record for each market where it's sold. For example, if you sell the same strawberry edible SKU in 10 states, create 10 catalog records or rows — one for each state.

  1. Add product details and new image links. See the Template Field Guide below for information on each column within the template. All required fields must be completed.
  2. Once the fields are complete, save each tab as a CSV. Each completed tab in the template (one per category) must be downloaded as a separate CSV for import. Click File > Download > CSV for each tab.
  3. Delete empty rows from the file.
  4. After removing empty rows, save your file as a new CSV.
  5. Import your CSV.

Standard columns across most tabs

Field Description
Product Name

Enter the product name. Omit the brand name — brand and product name will always display near each other on menus, and both fields return in a customer's search query.

Flower product names should not include weight; weight displays separately on the PDP along with category and subcategory. Example: Sour Diesel

Pre-Roll, Vaporizer, and Concentrate product names must include weight. Multi-packs should also include pack size. Example: Sour Diesel Pre-Roll 2-pack | 1g

Edible and Tincture product names should include total THC potency. Example: Sour Apple Gummies 10-pack | 100mg

If a product comes in multiple sizes or weights, list each as a separate row and add a differentiating detail to the name so they don't appear identical.

Brand

Select an authorized brand associated with your account from the dropdown.

Important: Brands must be entered exactly as they appear in the Connect admin. Tip: Go to Settings > Brands to copy your brand name exactly, or copy it from an existing product in your catalog.

Category Auto-locked to match the current tab name, which reduces errors during import.
Subcategory

Select from the dropdown; available options vary by tab. Use the values provided in the template to ensure the system accepts them.

Free text is allowed on the CBD, Seeds, and Apparel tabs only.

State/Province

Select a state from the dropdown. Create a separate row for each state or province a product is sold in.

Dutchie product libraries are segmented by market to meet compliance rules and content preferences.

States and provinces should use postal abbreviations (e.g., CA, OR, AB, NY).

Retail Description Enter the retail product description. There is no character limit.
Images (1–3) Provide publicly accessible URLs to square JPEG or PNG images (max 20MB). See Acceptable Image Links below for supported hosting services and link formats.
Type

Select the strain type: Indica, Sativa, Hybrid, High-CBD, Indica-Hybrid, or Sativa-Hybrid.

Excluded on the Accessories and Apparel tabs.

Cannabinoid Ratio

Select a ratio from the dropdown (e.g., 1:1, 2:1, 5:1, 10:1, 20:1, 50:1, N/A).

Excluded on the Seeds, Accessories, and Apparel tabs.

Strain & Description Define the strain details. Excluded on the Accessories and Apparel tabs.
Product Line & Description Optional field for grouping related sub-brand products together.
MSRP Enter the internal wholesale price. This value is hidden from retail customers and is for internal reference only.

Note on bulk assignments: Assigning Strain, Product Line, or Flavor in the CSV saves time by applying attributes to multiple products at once instead of editing them individually in the platform.

Weight and pack size

Field Description
Weight Used for single items, such as Flower and Concentrate. Select from the standard gram options in the dropdown.
Pack Size Used for multi-item products, such as Pre-Rolls and Edibles. Select from the dropdown where available, or enter free text on the Concentrate, CBD, Seeds, Accessories, and Apparel tabs.

These fields only appear on the tabs listed below.

Additional spreadsheet tabs

  • Product Description Page: reference instructions only; do not enter data here.
  • Amended Tab: used for updating existing catalog items. Includes additional fields such as Wholesale Price and Case Size.

Acceptable image links

Each image link must be an exact file share link (not a folder), and it must be publicly viewable. A generic Google Photos link, a My Drive homepage link, or a webpage that merely displays an image (rather than linking directly to the file) will not work.

Service Example link format
Google Drive https://drive.google.com/file/d/1AbCDefGhIjKLmnoPQRstuVWXYZ0123456789/view?usp=sharing
Dropbox https://www.dropbox.com/s/abc123xyz/img.png?dl=0

Direct image link Any URL ending in .jpg, .jpeg, .png, or .gif/.webp — e.g., https://example.com/images/product-123.jpg

Image file format should be PNG or JPEG in a 1:1 (square) ratio. Max file size is 20MB. There is no pixel size limit, so feel free to include the highest resolution available. We recommend images on a white or transparent background for a clean aesthetic.

How to add multiple images

You can include up to 9 images in your catalog. By default, your template includes columns for "Image," "Image (2)," and "Image (3)." To add more, create new columns labeled sequentially — "Image (4)," "Image (5)," and so on, up to "Image (9)." Images display on the product menu in the same order they're listed in your template.

Import your Dutchie Connect Catalog template

  1. Once your template is complete, it's time to convert and import your data.
  2. Save each tab as a CSV: select a tab, click File > Download > Comma Separated Values (.csv), delete any empty rows in the new CSV to avoid import failures, then save the CSV.
  3. Navigate to Catalog > Products, then click the Import button.
  4. While importing your file, you can view the progress of the data as it imports.
  5. Data validation exists in the upload tool. For example, rows without product names, images, or descriptions will "fail" and prevent the entire row of data from importing. These failures are captured in the "Failed Row" report with details on how to fix them. See "Correct errors after bulk upload" below.
  6. All successfully imported rows will be added to the catalog immediately.

Correct errors after bulk upload

Once the upload is complete, the Import Progress module will display the products successfully added to the catalog as well as any rows that contained errors.

  1. Download the failed rows.
  2. Correct the errors listed in the "ERRORS" column for each row.
  3. Save the updated CSV file.
  4. Re-import the corrected products.

Tip: Downloading the failed rows will include only the products with errors, not successfully imported products.

View your Import History

The Import History tab displays import files that are "In Progress," "Completed," and "Failed" at the file level. You can click into each import to see which rows were successful or failed, and view the total rows or products under each outcome in the progress table.

LingoApp

LingoApp: Customers using LingoApp can generate images that will work on Dutchie Connect. For it to work correctly, you will need to use a direct link (not a standard share link). Instructions for generating a direct link in the LingoApp help center: Using Direct Links | Lingo
