Convert inventory to change unit of measurement in Dutchie POS

Use the Convert option to convert weight-based inventory to quantity-based in the Dutchie Backoffice.

Things to consider

  • This action requires the convert inventory user permission.
  • If you're integrated with Metrc, converting a package in Dutchie POS also creates a new package in Metrc and requires new barcode stickers.
  • If you're integrated with Biotrack, the new package ID is auto-generated and not editable.
  • You can also use the convert tool to correct a mistake if a package was assigned to the wrong catalog product. For this use case, choose the Bypass state system option.
  • If you mistakenly enter the wrong product type or unit of measure you can follow this process to make the correct.

Change unit of measurement type and default unit field of a product

Before converting a product’s unit of measurement, you’ll first need to change the measurement type and default unit field in the Catalog.

  1. Go to Products > Catalog
  2. Select the Catalog entry of the product you would like to change into a Quantity-based product.
  3. In the Type dropdown, select Quantity
  4. In the Default Unit field, select Quantity
  5. Click Save

Convert unit of measurement

  1. Go to Products > Inventory.
  2. Click the three dots next to the product you want to convert.
  3. Select Convert from the list of actions.
  4. In the Products dropdown, choose the edited product catalog entry. Complete the fields in the Convert packages window as applicable.
Note: The From section is filled out with existing product info.
  5. In the From section, enter the entire quantity from the original package.
  6. In the To section, enter the same quantity.
Note: This may auto populate when entered in the From field.
  7. Click Generate to create a new package ID, or copy and paste your original Metrc tag into this field.
  8. Check the Bypass State system box. This allows you to convert without the changes being synced to Metrc.
  9. If you're integrated with BioTrack, check the box for No modification to product only if the new product will not require a new lab test. This option carries over the lab test results from the original package to the new package.
  10. Click Convert to finish converting the unit of measurement.
Note: A warning message may appear noting, "If the output quantity is not calculated based on the input quantity grams/concentration, there will be a discrepancy with your traceability system." Ensure all fields are complete and proceed with converting the package.
