Convert inventory: inventory management action - Dutchie POS

You can convert inventory in bulk or individually from the Inventory module in Dutchie POS Backoffice.

Converting inventory allows you to convert packages into different SKUs and package IDs – for example, when creating pre-packs or pre-rolls from bulk flower or as a way of changing the unit of measure

You can also convert inventory to correct a mistake if a package was assigned to the wrong catalog product. For this use case, choose the Bypass state system option.

Things to consider

  • This action requires the convert inventory user permission.
  • If you haven't already done so, create Catalog entries for the product you want to create from a weight-based bulk flower package, with the Type set to Quantity.
  • Verify the Grams/concentration value of each product before converting.
  • If you’re integrated with BioTrack, also verify the External category of your products before converting. Note that with BioTrack, the source and new products cannot be in the same external category.

  1. Go to Products > Inventory.
  2. Click the three dots … next to the package you want to use as your source package and select Convert. Or, use the checkboxes to select multiple packages, then select Bulk actions > Convert.
  3. In the To section, select the Product you want to create.
  4. Enter the Quantity you want to create. For example, if the product you selected has a grams/concentration of 3.5g, and you enter a quantity of 100, the system automatically calculates that you’ll be taking 350g from the source package.
  5. Enter or generate a Package ID:
    • If you’re integrated with Metrc, paste a new Metrc tag number into this field.
    • Or, if you only want to create a new package in Dutchie POS that is linked to the source package's tag number in Metrc, you can select Bypass state system and instead of using a new Metrc tag click Generate or manually enter your own package ID, which will only exist in Dutchie POS. • If you’re integrated with BioTrack, a new package ID will be automatically generated.
    • If you’re not integrated with any traceability system, click Generate or manually enter a package ID.
  6. Fill in the other fields as necessary/required.
  7. Click Convert.

Verify lab results, strain, and print labels

By default, new packages will use the same batch ID and lab results as the source package.

However, if you assigned a new batch ID to any new packages, be sure to enter lab results for these new packages. Also, note that the strain name that prints on labels is based on the strain assigned to the batch, so you also need to assign a strain to the new batch ID.

Finally, print new barcode stickers if you created a new package in Metrc.

Analytics for converted inventory

Use the Inventory Adjustments - Convert report to compile data about inventory you've converted, such as total processed bulk flower, including the original weight converted into other products.
