Preserve and migrate your store's Dutchie POS data

When your business goes through changes, Dutchie can help you preserve your store's historical and current Dutchie POS data so you can continue to operate smoothly no matter the situation.

Important

Some operations may need to be paused during the data migration process. For this reason, we typically schedule this process outside of a store’s regular business hours.

When should you preserve and migrate your store's data?

  • You’re selling your cannabis license.
  • Your store is moving physical locations to merge with another store.

How does Dutchie preserve and migrate a store’s historical data?

There are a few methods for preserving and migrating your store’s historical data. The method we use will depend on the situation. 
 

Type What it does Use case
Merge Combines data from 1 or more locations with an existing location on the same URL.

Acquisition. Combines two or more locations.

Ex. A med LSP and Rec LSP combine to become one location.

Split Creates a new location from data of 1 or more locations.

Change of ownership or locations don’t want to share the same catalog.

Ex. A location is sold to a non-DPOS location

Move Moves data to a different server, typically after data has been split or merged. Acquisition. Combines locations on a single-tenant server.

Ex. A business acquires a location that was already on a Dutchie server


 

Our business needs to preserve and migrate a store’s data. How do we get started?

  1. Complete the Preserve and migrate your store's Dutchie POS data - Move, split, merge checklist, and return to your Dutchie Customer Success Manager (CSM) or Implementation Specialist (IS).
  2. Your CSM or IS will reach out to schedule a call with you to answer questions and schedule a time to complete your store’s data preservation and migration.
    1. Note: If you are merging Data, Dutchie will run a merge analysis to compare data and share it with you. You may be required to update your data before scheduling your store’s data preservation.
  3. Ahead of your location’s scheduled data preservation and migration, the Dutchie team will schedule additional meetings with you to prepare and answer questions that may arise.

Important

Typically, your store can be scheduled 2 to 3 weeks in advance. Reach out to your CSM or IS early on to ensure your move can be scheduled on time.

What to expect the day your store’s scheduled data preservation and migration?

The data preservation and migration will likely be scheduled outside of your store’s operating hours. About a half hour before the process begins, you will receive a communication from Dutchie confirming that the data preservation and migration will proceed.

When the process is complete, Dutchie will contact you to let you know it is finished.
