Exclusive Collections: Dutchie Backoffice set-up

Before moving to the E-Commerce Admin, you must establish the "Who" and the "What" in your POS system. To create Exclusive Collections, you’ll first need to tag products and set up customer segments in Dutchie POS.

Tag your products

To make sure the E-Commerce site knows which products belong in this exclusive group, you need a shared identifier. Tags act as bridges that pull these specific items into your collection automatically. You can use existing product tags or create and edit new ones at Products > Configure > Tags.

To apply tags to products

  1. Go to Dutchie POS Admin > Products > Inventory.
  2. Select the products you want to include.
  3. Once you’ve selected your products, click the Bulk Actions button and choose Edit Tags from the drop down.

Inventory management interface with product list
Inventory management menu with edit tags option highlighted
  4. Now you can add or remove tags from your product. Choose the tags you want to apply and click the Save button.

To create Customer segments

  1. Go to Customers > Segments.
  2. Click Create Segment.
  3. Choose the rules and conditions to apply to your segment.
  4. Click Save.

Read Learn how to set up segments in Dutchie Point of Sale for more detailed information about setting up Segments in Dutchie Backoffice.

Add products and set conditions

A collection can have up to 8 conditions; each condition matches some set of products for display in your collection page, based on what you configure that condition to target.

Supported Conditions

  1. Click the Add Condition button to select a condition.
  2. Select how you want to sort the products in your collection and click Save.
  3. If you have more than one condition, choose whether the collection items need to match ANY conditions or ALL conditions.
  4. Click Continue.
Note: When you save your conditions, you will see a final product count. Collections with many products may take longer to save.
  • Items from a category - For the condition “Items From A Category”, you can select either category or subcategory from the options. If these conditions are set, then all items listed in these categories are pulled into the collection. However, if more conditions are chosen, this might filter the product count further.
  • Items from a brand - The condition “Items By Brand” matches products for 1 or more brands in your inventory.
  • Items by Strain Type - The condition “Items By Strain Type” uses a pre-populated modal for selection so you can include items with an exact match for this specific type, for example, Indica or Sativa.
  • Items by effects - The condition “Items By Effects” matches products with 1 or more specific effects, for example, sleepy or calming.
  • Items by potency (THC and CBD) - The condition “Items By Potency” matches products for a specific percentage, and either greater than or less than that percentage. Percentages must be whole numbers.
  • Items By Weight - The condition “Items by Weight” matches products for 1 or more specific weights.
  • Individual Items - The condition “Individual Items” matches 1 or more specific items.
  • Items by Dutchie POS tags - Create a condition based on product tags from Dutchie POS.

Note: When using "Items by Dutchie POS tags" condition, verify tags are applied at Catalog level, not just Inventory level. Review all collection conditions to ensure they're targeting the correct product attributes.

Applications

Collection applications allow you to select how the collection will show on your menu. You can choose Homepage Section, Navigation Menu Item, Product Card Badge

  1. Click Continue to finalize the collection in the Confirm section.
  2. You can review the collection choice and click Publish Collection.
  • Homepage Section adds collections to the home screen in a carousel format.
  • When enabled, a Navigation Menu Item shows a collection in the Navigation bar on your website. You can show up to 6 collections in the dropdown. This can be turned on and off using the Enabled/Disabled toggle.
  • When enabled, Product Card Badges are used to add more information and character to the products in the collection. This displays a label on the product card to show it is part of a collection.

Schedule a Collection

This tutorial covers how to schedule a collection.

  1. From Dutchie E-Commerce admin, go to Collections.
    1. From here you can view existing and scheduled Collections.
  2. To Edit the schedule of an existing collection, click the 3 dots (...) next to a Collection in the overview screen and choose Edit.
  3. To create and schedule a new collection, click the CREATE COLLECTION button.
  4. Fill out the Collection details; you can also upload an image to associate with it.
  5. Click Continue.
  6. Set up the schedule for your Collection. You can run the Collection indefinitely, for a set number of days or for a time period on specific days.
  7. Once your schedule is set, click Continue.
  8. Set Conditions and Applications (Optional).
  9. Click PUBLISH COLLECTION.
  10. When you return to the Collection overview, you can view and edit your scheduled Collections.

Verify Exclusive Collection visibility

If you created an Exclusive Collection, you need to ensure your Exclusive Collection is configured correctly, you will want to test the visibility on your live menu:

  1. View your Dutchie E-Commerce menu without logging in. The Exclusive Collection and its specific products should not appear in the navigation or search results.
  2. Log in as a customer who belongs to the designated Audience segment.
  3. Verify that the Exclusive Collection is now visible on the homepage or in the navigation.
  4. Search for an exclusive product (e.g., "Chocolate Hashberry") to confirm it appears in search results only while logged in.

Exclusive Collections: Troubleshooting

  • Products are visible to everyone: Ensure the Exclusive toggle is enabled and that the products are not also listed in a separate, non-Exclusive Collection.
  • Eligible customers cannot see the collection: Confirm the customer is logged in with the email address associated with the correct segment or loyalty tier.
  • Badge not appearing: Check the customization settings within the collection to ensure the Product card badge toggle is turned on.

Collection badge rank

When looking at the list of created collections, you’ll notice some collections have a Badge Rank. This means the product is part of multiple collections, and this ranking represents the priority in which the Product Card Badge will show. You can prioritize the rank by reordering the collection list using the drag and drop functionality.

Collection links

Collection links allow you to add an embedded URL link to a collection. When added to a collection, the URL goes to where the collection is hosted. This allows you to add the collection link to emails or your website and bring customers directly to the menu collection.

  1. Go to Settings > Store Info tab.
  2. Enter your menu domain in the Embed URL field.
    Example: domain.com/menu

Custom Categories

Create a custom category

Within Collections, you can also create up to six collections that appear on your menu as a Category, both in the header menu and as a tile in your Categories carousel.
