This article will teach Dutchie Loyalty and Marketing Pro customers how to set up SMS campaigns.
This feature is available to Loyalty & Marketing Pro customers.
To use SMS messaging, the Loyalty & Marketing module must be set up first. This module manages customer segmentation, opt-in preferences, and campaign execution. Because of this, SMS can’t be activated or used until the Loyalty & Marketing module is fully configured and running.
Attention!
An SMS campaign must be sent within 90 days of your 10DLC approval. To maintain active approval, an SMS campaign must be sent at minimum every 90 days. An SMS campaign must be sent within 90 days of your 10DLC approval. To maintain active approval, we recommend sending an SMS campaign (or a test campaign) every 30 days.
SMS campaigns are created similar to standard email campaigns. Go to Marketing > Campaigns, click Create campaigns, and select One-time blast. From there, you can follow the steps to create an SMS campaign with a template that links to a landing page when your text is sent. When creating an SMS campaign, you have the option to enable the MMS toggle to make your message an MMS that includes media such as your logo.
Things to consider
- SMS campaigns are a part of Dutchie Loyalty and Marketing, which requires specific settings to be enabled in Dutchie Backoffice.
- SMS and MMS messages are the same thing. MMS is specific to messages with images included.
- We recommend sending test SMS campaigns to ensure your links are working and messages appear the way you intend. See the Send test SMS article in the help center for more information.
- Sending SMS messages required registration with 10DLC, for more information about 10DLC registration, see 10DLC onboarding guide.

Consumer verification
Consumer verification is the process of making sure that the person receiving the link is the intended recipient. When a recipient clicks the link in a message, they will be brought to a page to verify their DOB. If their profile already exists in Dutchie Backoffice, the entry should be consistent with the Patient DOB field.
If the recipient does not have a profile in Dutchie Backoffice, or we don’t have their DOB on file, then they’ll be sent to a pin login page, where they will be sent a second text message with a PIN. They’ll have to log in with that PIN in order to see the landing page.
What do my customers see on the receiving end?
Customers who receive your messages will see a snippet of your message and a link to the landing page you created. Landing pages are created using campaign templates in the Backoffice. To help you remain compliant and adhere to carrier rules, your customers will be sent to a Customer verification page to ensure they are the intended recipient of the message.
How do I create a landing page?
Landing pages for SMS messages are created similarly to campaign templates in the Backoffice. You can start from scratch or use a pre-populated template and edit it to fit your campaign. Templates are customizable to include links to menus, exclusive products, and websites. The template is included as a link in your SMS message that customers can access.
SMS campaign analytics
You can access metrics on SMS messages from campaigns performance view. SMS analytics include data such as delivered messages, clicked links, and verified birthdays for customers who complete customer verification. Learn more about Campaign Analytics in the help center.
Tips for effective SMS messaging
- Send messages that are personal and attached to an event. Birthdays and New Loyalty sign-ups are great ways to introduce your customers to SMS notifications.
- Treat SMS campaigns differently from email campaigns. Though they are created similarly in the Backoffice, SMS messages are a separate campaign channel. SMS messages are sent in real-time, so it's important to make the most of them.
- Advertise and opt-in. Make sure your customers know they can opt in to receive discounts and perks via SMS. A customer who knows they gave you permission to text them is more likely to engage with your messages.
