What is the issue?
Inventory is currently stored in a unit of measure that does not match how it is sold to customers. This requires a digital conversion in the Dutchie POS to repackage bulk products into smaller quantities while maintaining accurate weight and volume records.
What’s causing the issue?
This process is necessary when a dispensary receives bulk inventory from a vendor but intends to sell it in smaller increments. It also occurs when converting between different measurement types, such as breaking down a bulk flower package into individual pre-rolls or gram units.
How do I solve the issue?
Before you begin, ensure the package you are converting has an accurate current weight or count and that the target unit of measure is already created in Dutchie POS. If you are in a traceability state (such as Metrc or BioTrack), ensure your integration is active to prevent compliance discrepancies.
- Go to Products > Inventory.
- Click the three dots … next to the product you want to convert. Select Convert from the list of Actions.
- In the Products dropdown, choose the edited product catalog entry. Complete the fields in the Convert packages window as applicable.
- In the From section, enter the entire quantity from the original package.
- In the To section, enter the same quantity.
- Click Generate to create a new package ID, or copy and paste your original Metrc tag into this field.
- Click Convert to finish converting the unit of measurement.
Note: A warning message may appear noting, "If the output quantity is not calculated based on the input quantity grams/concentration, there will be a discrepancy with your traceability system." Ensure all fields are complete and proceed with converting the package.
